Default Hello!

Hello everyone!
I've been watching this website for a few weeks now and I really had a lot of fun reading your comments and answers. It's been a year now since I've flown for the first time and I terribly regret I didn't do it earlier. It's sooo beautiful!!! So I just started to "collect" models in 1:400 scale which somehow brought me to this forum. Anyway...I'm just finishing my study, which means that my financial position is more or less poor and for starter I bought only these 3 models:
A380-800 Air France (Gemini)
B787 ANA (Phoenix-models)
A320 Air New Zealand "Arwen&Eowyn" (Herpa) in 1:500 scale because there was no 1:400 scale available anymore.
I hope there will be more of them as soon as possible. =)

Kind regards from Slovenia!
Lenka

..... Welcome! Young ladies are welcome here as well. Maybe tone down some of these guys who are snorting about anything and everything.
..... I have three of the "Lord of the Rings" airliners and they are centerpieces of my collection. I was fortunate to get them early. I have not seen one for sale (on eBay) in quite a while. I read the "Rings" trilogy very early in life and reread it several times since. I also couldn't wait to see the movies and have them in my DVD collection.

Hi Lenka, and welcome aboard from Louisville, Kentucky, USA!

It sounds like you have started well on your new hobby with three very different airlines from different parts of the world. What made you choose these? Are you more interested in the paint schemes, or the types of aircraft, or the airlines they fly for, or all of these points? The great thing about this hobby, and the way it has grown in recent years is the vast choice of colorful schemes, interesting aircraft of both the current era and some that are older, as well as the large and small airlines who fly them. I try and have a model of every type of plane and airline I have ever flown on. Since I am three times your age, you can imagine what some of these planes look like!

The most important thing to remember is that while many of us have lots of knowledge, we also have opinions. The only person you have to please is Lenka! My collection began with just one model, so plan plenty of room in your study for shelves to display your new treasures!

Best wishes!

So there are also LotR addicts on this forum! It's nice to know! I was watching all 3 extended movie-parts at once for a few times now...though it took me the whole night to do that. And the book is just amazing! Anyway I'll try to find the 1:400 scale of the aiplane to Middle-Earth...

Regards,
Lenka

Thank you so much!!!
Well, I've chosen this models because I like LotR and Japan. And Air France because my degree work is connected with France and because the A380 had its first flight there. Otherwise I'm mostly interested in Airbus&Boeing planes and in European+Asian airlines. As for paint schemes...well... my next purchase will be Austrian Airlines "Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra" since I study music. If I would collect the models of the planes I've flown on... well it's very sad but the largest would be A320 (across the Europe there isn't much choice). But the Dream remains... and that is to fly on a bigger jet across the ocean. Maybe that day will come too.

Everything best and good luck!
Lenka

Welcome aboard Lenka. Pleased to welcome a young lady in the fierce world of diecast collecting ! Be careful, you'll probably have to choose between real and 1/xxx flying at some point, as this hobby can become very money consuming...

And furthermore you're a Tolkien fan ? Can't believe that ! I'm currently ending LoTR new reading, and will follow on with the Silmarillion, which I never read. Don't worry for the 1/400 Arwen & Eowyn, eBay is the place to keep an eye on. I got mine some month ago, I'm sure one will show up for you too.

Hello and welcome to the forum! May I ask what aircraft you flew on your first flight? Yes, flying is a totally different experience and I can attest to that! BTW, why did you start with 1:400 scale? Why not 1:500, 1:200, etc.? Hope you'll have a great time on this forum!

Hello! Yes... I'm quite scared that I'll have to make a decision between 1:1 and 1:400 planes! Definitely I would like to fly to Germany next year... to see the Airbus hangar!!!! As for 1:400 I guess I'm "lucky" since I don't have much free space in my room. Yes, I know... a cold comfort.

LotR... I think I like the Silmarillion even better than the LotR trilogy...

Regards,
Lenka

Hello! My first flight was with EasyJet but I really don't know for sure on which plane because I didn't pay attention to that on that time. I believe it was A319. Shame on me for not knowing that!
At first I was thinking of collecting the 1:200 scale but when I calculated the size of the A380 in 1:200 scale I somehow considered that I might not have enough room for such models. On the other hand I thought the 1:500 scale too small (and A320 "LotR" really is very tiny) and the result was 1:400. I guess so.

Regards,
Lenka

Yeah, shame on you for not knowing what aircraft you flew on your first flight!
Since 76% of easyJet's fleet are A319s, there's only 24% chance that your first flight was on a B737.

Good choice on the 1:400 scale! I started with 1:400 too but I'm slowly switching to 1:200. You can never go wrong with 1:400 as there are so many manufacturers, airlines, airframes and liveries to choose from. Happy collecting!

Well, you got me there! Let's say IT WAS A319!
Anyway I would really like to have at least one A380 in 1:200 scale! It must be gorgeous!

To make your flight more interesting and to be sure, you should take pics of the aircraft before boarding and/or take the safety card.

I'd like to have an A380 in 1:200 sometime down the road too but not right now as I usually wait till the aircraft has entered service with the airlines before getting the model.

Actually I did take pics of my other flights but unfortunately not of the first one (I guess I was too nervous). But what is with your suggestion about taking the safety card?

So I assume you don't want to have even the B787 yet? I must admit I just adore its wing-shape! I think the name "Dreamliner" really suits to the wings.

Hmmm...I forgot, you shouldn't take the safety card off the aircraft because it may jeopardise the safety of others in case of emergency.

I guess you can always ask and FA for a safety card to keep. I read on the net that many times, they will give you one if you ask nicely.

See!!! You shouldn't take the safety card!
Well...I'm very sorry for you, especially if the B787 will not fly the next year yet... otherwise you should buy at least one 1:500 scale model of it (just for a sample of course)!
