Smile What are your displaying "peeves"?

When it comes to displaying your models, what are your "pet peeves"? My major two are:

1) Displaying aircraft from different eras together in one display (ie, my CV-990,L-188 and DC-8 being displayed together with modern aircraft), and:

2) having a excessive amount of dust on all of them! arghhh!

So, what's yours?

It seem like you're grouping them by airline. You can solve this by grouping them by airline and by era.

Display them in a case or cabinet will reduce the amount of dust gathered on the model.

I've wanted to purchase a clear cabinet for the longest time, but unfortunately the finances won't permit it till at least mid summer. For the time being, I have to use my inflatable bed pump to blow the dust off the shelves...

sure, dust & space. Money? lol.

ALSO, when other people (visitors) try to hold the model and feel it. so far so good, but it's like disaster waiting to happen!

I display my aircraft by type, then by airline. Of course, it's a tad unrealistic to have a Delta 737 and a US Airways A320, both in new colors, right next to a Faucett Peru L-1011.

I agree about having others hold the model. Then there's the issue of leaving fingerprints or smudges that are just about impossible to get off, especially on chrome metal models, which is why I always handle mine using a soft cloth.

I hate it when these Herpa Premium display cases do not come with any kind of wheel enforcements! As agentX stated, sometimes model will just roll right off! thankfully it hasn't happened to me! whew. I think Herpa Modell Edition B733 comes with case AND wheel enforcements / anchor.

also, when visitor goes thru the display case, sometimes they will attempt to either, open it, or raise the whole thing, allowing modell to roll freely inside the display case!

thankfully, hasn't happened since i keep all of them in a display case and cabinet, but u guys know what's up.

Bill-ay! isn't your dad paying for your models anyway? lol! then they are his!!! hehe. watch, he's gonna make u sell them when u r 18; just like u told us, hehe.

That's easy AX20! The way I see it, you just have to keep complimenting Mrs. Agent. Say something like, "Sweetie, you look more beautiful than the day I met you". Oh well, at least it worked for me! Yeah, please feel free to share the outcome. Cheers!

Tell Mrs. Agent you are having a display room and that is final. Mrs. GP knows her place. (Wherever she wants to be!)

Just for info, I display my models in their box in an out of the way storage cupboard. That way Mrs. GP doesn't try to dust them and the little GP's don't get their sticky mitts on them.

I have my own "hobby room" that others may enter at their peril. Someone let the cat in once and I lost a couple of valuable models (cats have an annoying habit of shoving things off shelves just to hear them crash), so the door stays CLOSED. Mrs Gospodin doesn't go in there on her own, but when she's come to see me for something, she always comments on how many planes there are, and how it looks like they keep multiplying. I quickly change the subject, and ask her if there's anything she'd like me to order for her doll houses, which makes her happy. The dust is at a minimum because of the closed door, and nobody handles these babies uninvited. But I need more room, because the damn things ARE multiplying!

I don't like to see different scale planes next to each other. I like to show off the size differences of say a 757 sitting next to a 777 in the same scale. I don't like to see a 1:400 scale plane sitting next to say a 1:200. I have collected quite a few 1:200 Hogan models and yes, I am running out of room quickly!
