Default 8/13/06 Scott AFB Airshow

I'll post this here since Someone deleted it off of the 1/400 page with no explination, or any heads up. So hopefully it will stay here.

I just came home about an hour ago from the Scott AFB airshow. Scott AFB years ago was home to a few C-9's, but as of late, the home to a few KC-135's. I was expecting to see them, along with maybe some C-130's, and maybe a C-141, and a C-17. but I was really surprised. When I walked out of the Hanger, and turned to my left, they was a sight I had never seen in person, just beyond the C-5 ( Which surprised me) there it was, an AN-124!!That is really a beautiful plane in person, and being able to walk inside it was a real treat.

Besides that, I took a lot of pictures of some beautiful WWII planes. I hope you enjoy the pics.

Default Wwii

Lastly, they had a wide veriety of WWII Planes. The B-17 was special to me. My grandfather was a B-17 Captain in WWII, and flew the B-17's.He past away a year ago, so this touched me the most. What a beautiful plane. The last picture is of a P-51 and a F-15 flying in formation. Although they have done this before, it's pretty neat to see in person. I had a great time, except for the heat, and the nagging family.Next year im going by myself .

Enjoy,Dave.

It's cool they had an An-124 and a C-5 (Travis-based, no less!). All other USAF heavies and the WWII birds were also nice to see.

It was one of the best shows i've been to in years. The only one that was better was Edwards AFB when I was about 12. When I was younger we often when to Point Magoo?. and watch the Blue Angels from there, but I was about 7 then.

Man, Edwards is a great show! I went last year and I am scheduled to go again this year wx permitting; I'll be flying to MHV.

It's nice to see all the USAF birds gathered at one of the more historic airfields/areas.

I would like to go again, someday. When I went to the Edwards Show, they had an SR-71 in a hanger protected by red tape barrier with an armed gaurd. You could look at it, but no touchy, touchy .Thats how long ago it was.
