I saw in the press an interesting math: Italy has been in the world cup final every 12 years. I mean...1970, 1982, 1994 and 2006. Interesting eh?

Yes it's true and a little bit curious, isn't it? Fingers crossed for the match against France!

Felicitaciones Italia, it was a great final game that got me interested on the World Cup again. The French played well too.

Congrats Italy - Rome 1990 went to us, so it seems fair to return the courtesy... just kidding! Great game - except for Zidane, who ruined it all both for France and himself. Tragic, but now it is Italy´s turn to rejoice!

Well - two years from now, there´s a European Cup, and in 2010, we´ve got South Africa...

lollo, we weren´t THAT sad about losing - we got a nice third place, and a huge party instead.

Our news media can screw up stories really well at times so I thought I would ask here of some of the members from europe. American news has been reporting a scandal in Italian soccer (football) involving the owner of the Italian team paying off referees to get more favorable rulings for his team in games. Supposedly he and many referees have been arrested and that his team may be moved to what we call "minor league" status next year?

There is no accusations against the players, just the team owner and some referees but, if true, this must be really disheartening to these wonderful players.

Can anyone let us know what is happening and how badly our 30 second sound bite news media has distorted this story?

If only we had seen Germany in the final Their semi-final with Italy was THE game of the championship, and Germany deserved the runner up spot, not France. Portugal were not good and their fourth place flatters them their game with Holland was one of the worst games of football ever seen, they had to go to penalties to beat a very mediocre England side despite having a one man advantage for half of the game and were totally outclassed by Germany.

Congratulations Italy, however I feel as you didn't get there in a fair way seeing Grosso Diving really upsets me, but they had a great game and they are the Winners, SOCCEROOS will be back to get that Cup
