Default Dgitial SLR Camera

Well I'm finally able to afford a digital SLR camera. From those of you out there who have a digital SLR any comments or suggestions what to look for or even better yet can you recommend one.

Depending on if you have any lenses or flashes currently, if you do, try to stick with that brand as they may be interoperable.

For a really good entry level you could go with the Canon EOS 350D / Digital Rebel XT. It does great pictures and is not too expensive. For more money an upgrade on this model would be the Canon EOS 30D. Depending on how you plan to use it, this would be a good mid level camera, and it has gotten some great reviews.

Some good websites for research are http://www.dpreview.com/ and another one is http://www.steves-digicams.com/

I've been doing a little more research and looking into my price range. I want to use the camera for of course taking airline photos. So a telephoto lense is in order as well. Here are the 3 choices that fall into what I'm looking for. Any thoughts would be appreciated:

1) Nikon D-50 with 18-55mm and 55-200 mm lens

2) Canon D Rebel XT 18-55 mm and 75-200 mm lens

3) Pentax ISTDL2 18-55 mm and 50-200 mm lens

Either the Canon or Nikon will suit you fine. My suggestion is to go to a store that sells both (or two stores that sell one of each) and hold 'em. Fondle 'em. Decide which feels more natural or comfortable. I did that and chose the Nikon. I liked the way it felt and the button/screen locations better.

Believe it or not that was actually the first brand I looked as my 35mm's are both Olympus. The problem was I couldn't seem to get the manual focus to be crisp and sharp for me even adjusting the diapter. Otherwise that would have been my first choice.

I have an Olympus E-1 and an Olympus SP500. Both take outstanding photos. With an adapter, the E-1 takes all the lenses from my 35mm system. That is worth the price of admission. I don't know what you were looking at, but these cameras are the best in the business in my opinion.

Good luck!

I assume you mean "D50", as the F50 is a 35mm body. If so, you should be very pleased with your results.
