Sage advise on New Orleans "Been sitting here with my *** in a wad, wanting to speak out about the bull**** going on in New Orleans. For the people of New Orleans... First we would like to say, Sorry for your loss. With that said, Let's go through a few hurricane rules: (Unlike an earthquake, we know it's coming) #1. A mandatory evacuation means just that...Get the hell out. Don't blame the Government after they tell you to go. If they hadn't said anything, I can see the argument. They said get out... if you didn't, it's your fault, not theirs. (We don't want to hear it, even if you don't have a car, you can get out.) #2. If there is an emergency, stock up on water and non-perishables. If you didn't do this, it's not the Government's fault you're starving. #2a. If you run out of food and water, find a store that has some.(Remember, shoes, TV's, DVD's and CD's are not edible. Leave them alone.) #2b. If the local store has been looted of food or water, leave your neighbor's TV and stereo alone. (See #2a) They worked hard to get their stuff. Just because they were smart enough to leave during a mandatory evacuation, doesn't give you the right to take their stuff...it's theirs, not yours. #3. If someone comes in to help you, don't shoot at them and then complain no one is helping you. I'm not getting shot to help save some dumbass who didn't leave when told to do so. #4. If you are in your house that is completely under water, your belongings are probably too far gone for anyone to want them. If someone does want them, let them have them and hopefully they'll die in the filth. Just leave! (It's New Orleans, find a voodoo warrior and put a curse on them.) #5. My tax money should not pay to rebuild a 2 million dollar house, a sports stadium or a floating casino. Also, my tax money shouldn't go to rebuild a city that is under sea level. You wouldn't build your house on quicksand would you? You want to live below sea-level, do your country some good and join the Navy. #6. Regardless of what the Poverty Pimps Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton want you to believe, the US Government didn't create the Hurricane as a way to eradicate the black people of New Orleans; (Neither did Russia as a way to destroy America). The US Government didn't cause global warming that caused the hurricane (We've been coming out of an ice age for over a million years). #7. The government isn't responsible for giving you anything. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave, but you gotta work for what you want. McDonalds and Wal-Mart are always hiring, get a damn job and stop spooning off the people who are actually working for a living. President Kennedy said it best..."Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Thank you for allowing me to rant. Let's review the lies from the media in closing: Lie #1: There could be as many as 10,000 dead; There were less than 1,000 and that was not JUST New Orleans. Lie #2: There was a "toxic" sludge which is hazardous to health and would prevent people from coming back; There is no "toxic" sludge and people are returning and rebuilding. Lie #3: There were people being killed in the Super Dome. There were five deaths of which four of them were from natural causes. Lie #4: The Federal Government failed to ensure the berms were sufficient to withstand a hurricane; The fact is that there was criminal conduct by local officials and that the work contracted for was substandard and performed by "cronies". There is more that will come out as we get the "FACTS". But one thing is certain, the media and Liberals got it all wrong AGAIN. Carry on. ![]() Last edited by N2272V; 11-02-2005 at 11:29 AM. |

Odd. Mr Carlin claims not to have written this.
http://www.snopes.com/katrina/soapbox/carlin.asp Taken from the above website: Origins: This list of supposed common sense 'rules' has been attributed both to comedian George Carlin and to New Orleans blues musician Bill Boudreaux. It does not appear to be the work of either: Boudreaux's name came to be associated with the piece more than a week after it appeared, and Carlin's did not appear in association with it until October 2005. Our first sighting of the item was on the alt.vacation.las-vegas USENET newsgroup, where it appeared in a 14 September 2005 post. Even at that early date the identity of the diatribe's author had been obscured, with the poster later disclaiming having written it himself in the discussion thread sparked by his offering. George Carlin has disclaimed authorship of "Hurricane Rules" on his web site and placed a link back to this very article. Similar humor-tinged political screeds (e.g., "Paradox of Our Time," a 'things were better in the good old days' essay executed in the form of a comparison list, and "I'm a Bad American," a point-form essay advancing the cause of intolerance, have previously been falsely attributed to him as well. As we've discovered, just about any unsourced list of witty observations about politics and social mores will eventually become credited to George Carlin as it passes from inbox to inbox. As he has posted on his web site about such soapboxings: DON'T BLAME ME Floating around the Internet these days, posted and e-mailed back and forth, are a number of writings attributed to me, and I want people to know they're not mine. Don't blame me. Some are essay-length, some are just short lists of one and two-line jokes, but if they're flyin' around the Internet, they're probably not mine. Occasionally, a couple of jokes on a long list might have come from me, but not often. And because most of this stuff is really lame, it's embarrassing to see my name on it. And that's the problem. I want people to know that I take care with my writing, and try to keep my standards high. But most of this "humor" on the Internet is just plain stupid. I guess hard-core fans who follow my stuff closely would be able to spot the fake stuff, because the tone of voice is so different. But a casual fan has no way of knowing, and it bothers me that some people might believe I'd actually be capable of writing some of this stuff. George Carlin offers this bit of wisdom: "Nothing you see on the Internet is mine unless it came from one of my albums, books, HBO shows, or appeared on my website." Barbara "disgeorged" Mikkelson Jim, you told us you wouldn´t be telling any more porkies? Cought ya!! ![]()

Nobody. It´s crap, anyway. But don´t credit it to somebody who not only not wrote it, but who also distances himself from it.
Then again, Todd, truth and credibility are both concepts you don´t understand. You´ve proven that point long enough now.

The above statements from 'whoever' whether Carlin or not are simply opinion and the opinion I happen to share, but it is typical, not matter if you really do agree or not with a thread, if Jim or I post it, you will disagree..... More of that sweet Buzzard mentality Now go ahead and reply with your nonsense...... |

At least on DAC I CAN reply, unlike 400ch where this thread would have been "locked", at least for the general public.
Your constant mention of the buzz does tell a lot about you, though...

Personally I don't give a ____ who wrote it. But I know more than a few people who have muttered the same thing. I realize things look very different in Germany, and I know there is a cultural gap between how Germans view this and how Americans view this but put yourself in the average American’s shoes.
Of the people I know, most feel that the best Government is the Government that governs least. I know my wants and needs. Does my representative in Washington or Madison? I doubt it. I believe in personal responsibility. That means if I stay when I am warned, well I took my chances, and I sure hope I am prepared. Does this mean I absolve the politicians? No, and I doubt most Americans do. We know it took too long to get help to people. And you know what? Most of us knew that it would. Government, especially ours is huge and lethargic. We also know they type of people in Government. Nagin comes from a long (and I mean LONG) line of corrupt Louisiana politicians. The guy in charge of FEMA was a political appointee, shocking he was a political crony of the Republicans, a hack. If it was a Democratic President you would have had the same thing. If I could have bet every dollar I had I would have bet that the feds and the locals where going to screw this up. But this goes back to responsibility. If I know these things I should get out or prepare for the Government’s failure. So lets get on to the poor, and I mean the economically disadvantaged. New Orleans was and is one of the poorest cities in the US. Who truly is responsible for the evacuation of the poorest people? In the United States this falls to the local government and state government. Ok so why didn’t the Feds take this over right away? Right when they knew things were all screwed up? Well technically the locals have to first ask for assistance. Personally I know this should have been handled better but it wasn’t. It did cause plenty of local governments to look at the emergency plans. I know Wisconsin did. Now on to the taxpayer. Americans are generally mistrustful of government. This is an American trait. $500 hammers do not help the cause. When ever large sums of money are involved we assume there is fraud. We would like the poorest to get the help but it doesn’t happen. We hear stories of people spending money they received from FEMA in casinos, shopping trips etc. While I suspect these tend to be exaggerations they do not help the perception of massive fraud. New Orleans wasn’t run very well before the storm, and if the locals couldn’t do it, do we expect the Feds to do better? No. This does not take into account where New Orleans is, 60% or so under sea level. We just watched it get flooded most of us ask, “Do we want to pay for this now and have it happen 5 or 20 years down the road again?” Again Americans hesitate. It’s not that Americans don’t care. We gave plenty to private charities and I know a lot of Germans citizens gave too. And I thank them. I also know that you were just pointing out that Carlin didn’t write the essay, and I am pointing out why Americans would latch on to an obvious forgery. I have several of Carlin’s books and he is funny. In fact he got arrested in Milwaukee in the early ’70s for saying the 7 words your not allowed to say. Well there is still a sludge (could be toxic) in the lower-ninth ward. I got as far as I could exploring over (or down) there. You can look east down streets and see them dip down into what appears to be water. The water is sludge filled with trash, trees, various chemicals from refridgerators and cars, dead animals, a few dead people. You can get away with calling it dangerous. Down there are missing houses, houses in streets, houses burned down. Any house left untouched by the storm was probably broken into. There is writing on all the houses (which is normal down there) saying how many dead people and dogs were found inside, and if the second or even first floor is safe. It wasn't pretty and before the storm it was a regular neigborhood, although you can call it poor, just like ours. Very depressing. People were dying in the Superdome. Little food and water, it was hot... They weren't going any where. The local officials are loosing it. Nobodies getting any funding for any restoration. What's worse is St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and St. Tammany parishes (all more devestated and further east towards where eye made landfall) are getting less than the need for rebuilding than New Orleans. I'm lucky to be in Jefferson Parish, just about as far west as you can get and still say you live in New Orleans, where everything is about normal. Hey... I would hate for my tax money to go to what the media says are screwed people.
