Red face How Republicans really feel about the Katrina Survivors

According to former first lady and current first mom Barbara Bush:

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you
know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this
is working very well for them."

I for one would like to know how Jimbo is gonna spin this one.

I thought it was a joke when I heard that. Unbelievable.

Another genius named Celine Dion thought that they could have used kayaks to rescue people.

I think everybody who isn't a victim or isn't helping to rescue and feed these people should send money to the Red Cross and shut the F up.

Yeah that's the answer send money to an organization (The Red Cross) that has proven time and time again that it is much more adept at getting than it is at giving.

Anyone who wants to assist don’t worry, you’ll get plenty of opportunities when your federal taxes and insurance premiums go up.

Celine Dion was just frustrated and running on pure emotion, she meant well and didn't have a chance to let a professional script writer prepare her speech, but this is a good example of why entertainers should keep their pie holes shut.

Thumbs down Only RETARDS believe such nonsense.

You can find these out-of-context comments on Waste.com and Thisisnotover.com but no where on any reputable media outlet.

It was not easy, but her comments are contained here IN context:

In a segment at the top of the show on the surge of
evacuees to the Texas city, Barbara Bush said: "Almost
everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to
Houston."

Then she added: "What I’m hearing which is sort of
scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is
so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you
know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she
chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."

As usual, the hate filled Left Wing is going full bore to distort and paint Barbara as a racist. It's wrong, it's offensive but when you look at what these poeple are and where they come from, it's not surprising. We're seeing Liberals for what they REALLY are. Hateful hypocrites.

I find it fascinating when Liberal loonies don't believe anything the Government says, but jump on the bandwagon when looney web sites like these devoted to slandering Bush and his administration post garbage and nonsense like this.

You have to be retarded to buy into such nonsense. Suffice it to say Nick, I am dissapointed you swallow this swill.

And C-Pal, I apprciate how you keep "reaching" across the table to your fellow Conservatives. Nothing worse than an American hating, terrorist loving, lieing Liberal Hypocite from Canada posting such divisive rhetoric.

Dismissed moron.

The sad but true thing about this statement is that (while not a politically correct remark) for some of the people it is a correct assessment (think about it), many are receiving better medical care and given decent food, new clothing, shelter, money and vast amounts of other assistance which make their current lifestyle better than their original situation and are now given a chance to possibly start over in a whole new state if they choose to do so.
Many of the refugees that have been relocated to Utah thus far have made comments on the news that “although they suffered through a horrible tragedy that they now believe it may have been for the better and plan to make Utah their new home”.

For the people who have lost loved ones this is all irrelevant.

Anyone who has ever been to Louisiana can attest to the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of people down there that live in such incredible poverty that few have ever seen, this may not be a popular comment to make but it is true, unfortunately.

Thumbs down The definition of Racist

Apparently Liberals are having a hard time distinguishing what a REAL racist comment is or means based on the above posting. For retarded Liberals like C-Pal, here is a fine example of racism:

West began a rant by saying, "I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family, it says they're looting. See a white family, it says they're looking for food."

While allowing that "the Red Cross is doing everything they can," West — who delivered an emotional outburst at the American Music Awards after he was snubbed for an award — declared that government authorities are intentionally dragging their feet on aid to the Gulf Coast. Without getting specific, he added, "They've given them permission to go down and shoot us."

Dismissed looney tunes!

So Babs said these comments, how come you can't deny that. She obviously doesn't want these people stopping over in Texas, down at the Crawford ranch. You haven't shown how this was out of context, it was a racist statement and she never apologized for making it.

It was not a racist statement you moron, she was speaking of all the new housing, furniture, clothing, etc these people will end up with that they did not have before, she never mentioned race.

We had a flood in 1993 that wiped out all the low lying area's, it is a known fact that the people living in those area's were low income people who had nothing to speak of, after the flood and problems were over, those people got new homes, new furniture, new clothes, they came out great! And, most got their furniture from me and they all said how the flood was a stroke of luck for them.

And yes, I know that not everybody will look at New Orleans as a stroke of luck, it is sad that some have lost their loved ones but the statement you refer to did not mean what you portray, as usual...

So quit trying to make something out of her statement that wasn't there, you truly do have a mental problem

Only a hateful, witless mental midget who hates America and loves terrorists can make such a giant leap of absurdity with the comments Barbara made.

You're absurdity is endless isn't it clueless wonderkid from Canada?

Yo Todd, don't you love how these understanding, sensitive, caring Liberals love to "reach" across the aisle?

Canadork, your dismissed!

No one should ever apologize for speaking the truth no matter how painful the remarks, though one should excercise discretion when being blunt or some bleeding heart liberal will take a holier than thou pot shot at you.

The people who were bused into the Astrodome and flown to other parts of the country were people who literally had no other option, they had no family or friends that they could turn to for assistance for whatever reason, these people are what would typically be considered to be the dregs of society, the only other option that had was to live on the street.
Most all of us posting on this forum would have numerous other options at our disposal if we were confronted with the same situation, we would be able to contact family and friends in other cities and be welcomed with open arms, these refugees had no one and this was probably for a valid reason (they probably burned everyone they ever met).

A neighbor of mine invited a relocated family from the hurricane to his house Monday to share a meal and their experience, have a swim in the pool and a barbecue, use his washer/dryer, he also provided them with some clothing and other items, he let them make several long distance phone calls and then later in the evening he loaded them up and returned them to their shelter, only to return home and discovered that they had made off with numerous items (a watch, some jewelry and old coins) from his house along with his wives cell phone.

So these people lost relatives and family, all their worldy posessions, any family heirlooms that they may have had, and what a stroke of luck this hurricane came along and wiped out everything that they knew, now they can start over with some over priced sh*tty furniture and a new slum house. Praise the Lord!

So Todd, do you look at Hurricane Katrina as a stroke of luck? Who does look at the hurricane asa stroke of luck? Maybe they will give all the rebuilding contracts to Halliburton and then it can really be a stroke of luck for the republicans.

You gotta be shcitting me, most of these people had nothing to begin with and have long since sold off any so called "family heirlooms".
Have you ever seen the poverty that exists in the Deep South? Obviously not.

For many of these people it was the best thing that could have happened and that's no lie.
Pull your head out of your a$$ and take a look around every once in while, the world aint a warm and fuzzy place all the time and there are a lot of people who live in unbelievable conditions.

I know some handicap people that I do get burn out from them that's because they beg from us. Yes, I do pity them. Some of them are well-bodied to able to do work but low education level or church-brainwashed. Some of them demand 110% attention toward them, not my wife, not my kids and forget that we have our priorities but self. I am sure that the same behaviors thing applies to your people as well. Too.

ZX1100F1 you said all true! WOW!
