The Economy is bad? I'm sorry, but what planet are the Liberals living on? While they eschew American policies, they compliment the Liberal Governments of Germany and France whose economies are in near shambles.
If we compare their economies to ours just in just two categories, unemployment and GDP growth, the American economy runs away in the lead hands down. Here's an outstanding honest report for reading I suggest to the Eurodorks, Canadorks and Liberal of the forum if you wish to have an intellectually honest debate about the economic state of the USA done by EUROPEANS: http://www.timbro.com/euvsusa/pdf/EU...20vs%20US' This media event to portray the policies of this administration as inadequate and the constant claims that our economy is in a shambles just serves to further illustrate that there is no intellectual honesty in the media or Liberal politicians. The Liberal Left Wing in this country has spent the last six years putting America down, supporting foriegn governments and their policies over our own, and basically turned logic on it's head. Is it any wonder they are OUT of power? Oh yes, I almost forgot, it's only because of Carl Rove that Bush won. Carry on! Last edited by N2272V; 09-04-2005 at 02:58 PM. |

You know Richie, if you tried to look at things outside of the tiny micro world you live in, you could have much more relevance. I'd be happy to debate the realities of how well the American economy is doing as a whole and how it is beating the pants off almost every other economy in the world. But you keep coming up with these tiny inane local issues that occurred late in Clinton's Presidency and the beginning of Bush's, then whine about how things are now. Dumb, not surprising, but dumb. George W. Bush also doesn’t like numbers. First, there’s the economy. When Bush came into office. Bill Clinton left him a $230 billion surplus and a balanced budget. Not only isn’t the budget balanced, that surplus from five years ago has turned into a $7.95 trillion deficit, increasing at the rate of about $1.7 billion a day. That’s about $27,000 for every American, including those who are unemployed.
Part of that deficit is because of his ill-conceived tax cuts. In his first year in office, Bush pushed through a $1.35 trillion tax cut, followed by almost $400 billion in additional cuts, which primarily relieved the financial burden of the wealthy. The top one percent of wage earners, those making at least $356,000 a year, received 45 percent of the cuts, with their share rising to almost 52 percent by 2010. The 36 million Americans who are living below the poverty line have little concern about the tax cuts since they receive almost no benefit. Nevertheless, Bush claimed the tax cuts would spur the economy and create more jobs. In the 30 months after the tax cuts were announced, 2.4 million jobs were lost. Last month, more than 7.5 million Americans who wanted work were unemployed. Another 1.5 million, several hundred thousand of whom are so discouraged they have given up trying to find work, weren’t included in that number because they didn’t report to a state or federal office. About three million are homeless; mostly, they aren’t counted in unemployment statistics. Not worrying about unemployment are the oil company executives whose companies are receiving about $11 billion in government incentives for oil exploration, and recording their highest profits ever. Since President Bush’s inauguration in January 2001, about 2.7 million manufacturing jobs and almost 850,000 professional and trade sector jobs have been outsourced to other countries, according to research conducted by the AFL-CIO. Most of the manufacturing jobs have gone to Mexico, China, and several Asian countries. Professional telemarketing and technical support jobs to assist American consumers on everything from computers to playground slides have gone to India and other countries. The Bush Administration pushed through a $20 billion tax reduction plan that resulted in an 85 percent tax cut on profits earned in foreign countries. The tax cut has little to do with stimulating the languid economy, increasing jobs in America, or helping the unemployed; it does encourage corporations to develop more overseas operations. ![]() |

The recession, which began in the first quarter of 2000 was the making of Bill Clinton's administration, not Bush's. Lets get those facts out Mr. Spindoctor.
In addition, 9-11 had a HUGE impact on our economy and employment. I know you would like to PRETEND that 9-11 didn't happen, but it did. Lets get that FACT out Mr. Spindoctor. Is there any other major national economy out there doing better? Nope. Yet looney's like you would like to make us believe that 3.6% GDP growth, 5% unemployment and 3% Debt to GDP is a bad thing. Most nations would give their right arms to have those figures, namely France and Germany, while at the same time working to free the Iraqi people from the yoke of ignorance and totalitarism. Based on the latest US Treasury report, receipts are ahead of last years and show that the deficit is projected to be much less than originally estimated. This is due to an increase in Corporate tax and individual tax receipts. FY2004 in September, 1.879 mill, FY2005 July 1.746 mill. Deficit FY 2004, $396 mill, expected deficit for FY 2005 $332 mill. Contrary to what you are trying to spin Steve, the tax reductions have INCREASED economic activity and employment growth resulting in MORE revenue, not less. You're truly a piece of work Steve. Now take your hate America theme and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Dismissed looney tune! ![]() Last edited by N2272V; 09-06-2005 at 05:47 PM. |

Canada GDP growth projected at 2.3%, US 3.6%.
Canadian loony 1.26 to the dollar. Canadian unemployment 6.8%, US 5%. Debt to GDP 1.2%, US 3%. Canadian population 32,146,527, US population 297,093,821 Canadian Defense Budget 7 billion ($217 cdn pr capita), US 401.7 billion (1,352 US per capita) Foreign aid budget 3.4 billion over five years, US 76.8 billion. Those are some facts. Canada is doing pretty good considering it has NO defense budget thanks to the USA and provides a fraction of the foreign aid that the US does. Dismissed looney tune! ![]() |

You can rant all you want about Germany and France, all the EU and their supposedly ailing governments, but we still got the dough to send relief to the New Orleans area. So, it can´t be all that bad, can it?
Jim, have you donated yet?

I see that Liberals like Hapag need to understand the definition of "Rant" versus "Fact".
Rant: 1 : to talk in a noisy, excited, or declamatory manner 2 : to scold vehemently transitive senses : to utter in a bombastic declamatory fashion Fact: 1 : a thing done: as a : obsolete : FEAT b : CRIME 2 : archaic : PERFORMANCE, DOING 3 : the quality of being actual : ACTUALITY 4 a : something that has actual existence 5 : a piece of information presented as having objective reality - in fact : in truth So if you think that my above statements serve as anything but a Fact, do share how that could be. Dismissed. ![]() |

I am using these comparisons, not in a rant, but in RESPONSE to the rants from loonies like you and your America hating, terrorist loving Candork C-Pal. It illustrates, using FACT, the absurdity to the Liberal claims that Bush has ruined our economy. Especially coming from Europeans and Canadians. People in glass houses should NEVER throw stones. I hope this is CLEAR enough so that you can follow along and not jump topics. Carry on! |

I find it amusing when a European asks an American this question. My German uncle recently made the comment to me that he and most Europeans are fascinated how much the American public donate. We were discussing how in Ventura, almost $1,000,000 was raised to build the High School football stadium. His comment was, "here in Germany we don't personally donate. We look to the Government to use taxpayer money for those things." I found this statement educational. Carry on! Last edited by N2272V; 09-07-2005 at 01:23 PM. |
