Default Canadian warships to sail to Louisiana

Fri, 02 Sep 2005 18:20:41 EDT
CBC News
Three Canadian warships, a coast guard vessel and three Sea King helicoptors will be sent to Louisiana on Tuesday with relief supplies for the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Defence Minister Bill Graham made the announcement.

Naval crews were busy loading gear on to the ships in Halifax Friday as 1,000 personnel prepared to head to waters off New Orleans.

The vessels will work with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard and carry Canadian Forces personnel, some of them military engineers who might be able to help restore power and generate electricity.

The ships the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria are expected to arrive in the Gulf of Mexico three to four days after they leave Halifax.

Question Excepting an Apology from Jimbo?

For calling y'all CanaDorks? DUH!

That ain't gonna to happen! So do not except an apology from Jimbo.

So sorry to either disappoint nor deject y'all guys!

From me..... All I can say is..... WOW! WHAT A NICE THOUGHTFULNESS FROM YOU PEOPLE FROM CANADA!!!

So, Care to take low income 1,000,000 New Orleanans citizens along with you to Canada? Bush would appreciate to see his Social Security Income to be either cut nor reduced. (That one would make Jimbo real happy!)
(No offense.... Just teasing y'all)

That´s beautiful. Congratulations to the canadian gov.

BTW, interesting is that the vessels listed bellow have the same name like were the ones that in 1500 discovered Brazil with the portuguese Pedro Álvares Cabral in charge of the fleet.

Actually, these are not the correct names of the ships. It was meant as a satirical remark on the general condition of the equipment that the Canadian Armed Forces have. Much of it is quite old.

The true names of the warships are the HMCS Toronto, HMCS Quebec and the HMCS Athabaskan.

First on the scene again to help. We sent a Search and Rescue team from Vancouver two days after the Hurricane. Like 9/11 Canada's the first country on the scene.

In times like this honeslty we should all set our differences aside and help. After all we are all brothers and sisters living under one sky. It makes me sick to see the suffering and as of late I became a father and seeing all the babies that need help and mothers that are begging for assistance, well I can't describe what I am feeling. Sorry guys.

Canada may not have gone to war in Iraq but that doesn't mean we are anti American. We are like a family and very few families agree on absolutely everything. Just because one family member doesn't agree with the others doesn't mean you hate them or kick them out. As small a member of the family that Canada is, we would never stand back and abandon the U.S. in times of need like this. We may not have a lot to offer compared to the U.S., but what we have we are quite willing to share or give. I know for a fact, if the same thing had happened to Canada, the U.S. would have been there to help us.
Many countries are sending assistance, either monetary or food or manpower. Going to war or not going to war, against one country isn't the time to judge who your real friends are, a disaster like this is when you find out. Going to war involves too much politics and "what's in it for me" attitude. Helping after a disaster is purely humanitarian with nothing to be gained by anyone who assists.
If you have an extra $5 or $50, it doesn't matter how much, just donate it to an organization that is trying to ease the suffering.
Some people say "I already gave, to the tsunami relief fund". That was then, this is now, these people need help now. I'm sure everyone on this forum and others, can afford to give even $1. If millions gave $1, it sure would add up and mean a lot to people that have nothing left except the clothes on their backs. Personally, I'm going to take the money I would spend on my next 2 or 3 models and donating that. I'll buy them at a later date, models can wait, desperate people can't.
God bless the poor souls in the Southern U.S. who were effected by Katrina.
God bless the entire free world!!!!!!!!
