Default Aruba's incident. Your thoughts?

http://www.comcast.net/news/index.js...12/154008.html

First, My deepest symphaty goes to her family. In the fact she should never have been by herself especially at that age and being a female at that event of her disappearance!

Secondly, After realize that certain perp (Dutch) comes from high-ranking within Aruba's government system. Also I notice that those Aruba governments are way too worried how their country would be affect if there is fact (pain) that tells whole world how she is killed or might even been sent to South America for slavery than concern to find her body and accept the miscrible news.

As explained above, That do bothers me as it apparently could be base on politics motive to conserve it's country's repuation. Trying to hide such evidence? (body) ? I think their government should be concern to find all of the edviences and accept the fact if one of their citizenship are bad apple or it could be tourist's criminal not their citizen?

There is another mystery murder on that island sometime in 90's? No body found..... Moved on.....

Something fishy on that island's government?

Anyone care to express your opinion?

John, honestly, what do you expect from a 3rd world country? Of course they´ll cover it up - tourism and foreign aid seem to be Aruba´s main sources of income, and both are endangered should the truth (corruption, cover-up, police and security inadequacies) become exposed to the public.

Sad stuff, and I feel for the family. Let´s all hope that there will be a happy end after all, as slim as that chance might be.

Aruba appears to be as dangerous for American tourists as Miami is for Germans...

Default The truth be known

The truth about what happened to those poor German tourists is only one of many stories......the Miami Intl Airport unfortunately boarders the 'bad side' of town where there are drug dealers, pimps and others seeking to get a fast buck. Back then all the rental car agencies used to put bumper stickers on their cars (be it for whatever reason) anyone could immediately and very easily identify and out-of-towner. After this terrible incident a law was passed forcing the rental car agencies to remove all traces of identification that their cars were rentals and the incidents of car/jacking and car robberies dropped dramatically in Miami.

At the time I used to live in a high rise and to get home I had to travel thru the very same area that those poor folks got lost in. I moved from there shortly after I got married and not to long afterwards the city began cleaning up that entire area (the AA sports arena) is right in that same area as well as the port of Miami with the airport being only minutes away.

The area is still not a very good area to live or be in however it is a lot better than when I lived there back in 1989.

Still, when I told my friends that I´d want to go on vacation in the USA or Canada, every single one warned me not to go to Miami, as I´d get myself killed there. I´m thinking Georgia, or maybe see the (north) east coast indian summer.

Don't come to St.Louis,Missouri,Its boring.Anywhere you go where they have high amounts of tourist, you'll have high amounts of crime.Thats anywhere even in Germany.Best thing to do is quite being scared, and just learn where to go,and not where to go.Find out from someone you know, gets maps.I've traveled all over the U.S. and into Mexico.I know where to go,and where not to.Florida is beautiful, and fun.Jet skiing in the Ocean is a blast (just dont swim in the water SHARKS!)Disney World,Universal Studio's Orlando, and
Destin all really nice places.Of course I have young children.Investigate anywhere you go before you go there.

Plus those Germans where attacked a while ago,and the rental car companies have since fixed that problem.Good luck,Im sure someone here would be able to help you.

Smile if you come to south florida

Think about staying in the FORT LAUDERDALE area and if you need/want to you can take about a 30 minute drive south to Miami and then go to South Beach.......its like the California Venice but on the east coast. There are a lot of night clubs, resturants (one in particular called the Clevelander) sits right on the side walk and you can see some of worlds most beautiful women or men (if thats your thing) go by. It really is a wild place at night. If you elect to stay in the Fort Lauderdale area you can go to LAS OLAS Blvd and find clubs wine women and song.

You can also do a lot of fishing be it deep sea or canal or maybe take a day trip to KEY WEST (150 miles away from MIA)spend the night go fishing, site seeing and go night clubing or to one of the hot spots 'Sloppy Joes'. An ERNST HEMINGTON hang out when he was alive and lived there.

And you can do all this without fear of being mugged or killed. Like someone said earlier you just have to know where to go and where not to go. The seedy section of town no matter where you go is always immediately apparent.

Again its all in what you want to do. By the way if you stay in Miami or are going thru there to another destination remember to go by and see Luis over at ADAMJETS.......you may not know this but he has on display virtually every 1/400th scale that has ever come out on display for your viewing pleasure including some 'customs' that you may not have ever seen.

Last but not least you can always include a day trip on one of the gambling ships to the Bahamas (sea escape is one)and you can get a cabin for the day. Or if you have the time you can certainly take a regular cruise ship on a three to 7 day cruise to various ports. Also the MIA intl airport still has areas where you can viewn aircraft landing and taking off at either the south/western corner of the airport. Or you can have a drink at the 94th Aero Squandron and watch all the activity there. They have an absolutely great vantage view of all the aircraft landing and taking off in that the resturant is situated right in the middle of where two of the runways intersect. A great day can be had by first going to the Opalaka airport where the completely restored AA DC-7 resides and where they are also restoring their new DC-7 with the original EA interior.

If you are lucky the day you go Carlos Gomez might be there with his partner from LLC Mark Wolff and if you go up to the fence they'll allow you to come thru and even take pictures. They are really nice guys. After that a short drive to Mia and airplane watching at the end of runway and then lunch at the 94th Aero Squadron and then a quick 15 minute drive over to Adamjets to check out all those models. And Luis has many models there that are not listed on his web-site. But call first because Luis is only open on WED, FRI AND SAT. You can then end your day by going the Clevelander or any of the other bars/dance discos to wrap up your day. So as you can see there is certainly alot to do here if you KNOW WHERE TO GO AND WHERE NOT TO GO.

By the way you can also take CHALKS out FT. LAUDERDALE (they fly sea planes) and actually land on the water and then taxi up to the ATLANTIS RESORT. Its expensive in the strictest sense of the word but you can have a great time there and of course have a great experience with the seaplane ride.

This is just a short list of whats availiable in MIA if you decide you want to come. later WR

Default regarding Natalie

Where she may or may not be who knows......but a pair of pliers to that 17 year olds balls with a good solid squeeze will get you more information than you thought possible. WR That kid did something to her and I wouldn't doubt that the other two clowns are involved.

Just think how quickly the US could have captured Bin Laden, if they all weren't in Aruba looking for Jug Twitty's kid.

I've been to Miami dozens of times and never felt threatened or intimidated. The odds of you getting attacked by thugs is tiny compared to your chances of getting hit by another car.

I always find it fascinating when people are more afraid of flying or going someplace because of what they "hear" over the odds or reality of it happening, yet the most dangerous thing we do everyday, getting into a car, we think nothing of.

Carry on!

Another question - I´m still planning my trip - is whether or not tourists like myself would be welcome. I´ve seen the numbers of eBay sellers saying "I ain´t gonna ship to Germany or France as they are not supporting our troops and speak outlandish languages" (OK, I made up the second half ONLY of that sentence). Or if these are doofuses who hurt themselves - they ARE willing to ship to the rest of Yurp (note: HEY DORKS - SWITZERLAND AIN´T TOO SUPPORTIVE EITHER!!!). As my English needs improvement really BAD, I´d be instantly recognized as ay toorist from zee olt vorlt.

We all take risks everyday of our lives and do not worry unduly, this incident wouldn't stop me going to Aruba. I've been to Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles and found that a great place, I spent quite a while in Trinidad which can be very dangerous but as long as you use a bit of common sense Trinidad is a brilliant place.

many years ago a cargo ship from Chile was torpedoed right in front of the New Jersey shore (near to Asbury park) The now sunken ship, had a BIG chilean flag on the ship's sides. Perhaps the German boat's crew didn't like chilean wine/grapes/apples/feathers/funguscream and other novelties from the south. A sharp hit sent the ship and flags to RIP at the bottom of the NJ shore. Now the ship grave is a great/popular place for scuba and white shark feeding.

As lately you guys have stopped that unfriendly/hostile/bad habit. You're welcome to visit California, I can drive you to visit James Mcdonald and we can all go out for a coffee.

California is a great place for people that needs to emprove their English, a ****load of other humans are in the same situation. Before the Mexican Bashing begins I would like to add that most of them are American themselves.

Regards you, boatbuster!!!

Must have been the same people that had my grandma and grandpa sent to concentration camps.

Besides, I prefer French and Swiss wine to Chilean one, but each to his/her own.

One American tourist lost in Aruba in how long?
Oh yeah this sure as hell sounds like a real big problem to me. I can't believe the trivial **** that the media fixates on and sensationalizes these days.
