"Recession means that people's incomes, at the employer level, are going down, basically, relative to costs, people are getting laid off."

Here's some better ones from Clinton. Enjoy!
Clinton: "I can spend your money better than you can." In a post-State of the Union speech in Buffalo, NY on January 20, 1999, Bill Clinton was asked why not a tax cut if we have a surplus. Clinton's response: "We could give it all back to you and hope you spend it right... But ... if you don't spend it right, here's what's going to happen. In 2013 -- that's just 14 years away -- taxes people pay on their payroll for Social Security will no longer cover the monthly checks... I want every parent here to look at the young people here, and ask yourself, 'Do you really want to run the risk of squandering this surplus?' " Source: Washington Times, January 21, 1999 "You can't say you love your country and hate your government." - Bill Clinton, 1995 (After the OKC bombing) "A lot of wonderful people love their country and hate the military." - Bill Clinton, 1969 (Letter to the National Guard) "And so, it is important that we are able to forgive those we believe have wronged us even as we ask for forgiveness from people we have wronged. And I heard that first -- first in the civil rights movement. Love thy neighbor as thyself." "You know the one thing that's wrong with this country? Everyone gets a chance to have their fair say." President William Clinton addressing the people of Philadelphia, May 28, 1993 in the Courtyard, City Hall, Philadelphia, PA. The president was giving a speech in Berlin in May, 1998, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Airlift, which kept the city afloat in 1948-49 when Stalin attempted to starve it into submission. Clinton chose to give special recognition to then-Lt. Gail Halvorsen of Provo, Utah, who had dropped packages of candy for Berlin's children from his aircraft as he landed with supplies at Templehoff Airport. "She is here with us today," the president declared, speaking of Halvorsen. "I'd like to ask her to stand." Gail Halvorsen then stood up - Mr. Gail Halvorsen, a 77-year old grandfather. "Thank you, Sir, " said Clinton. Here's one of my favorites: "When I was a younger man and had a life," stated Clinton, "I owned an El Camino pickup in the '70s. It was a real sort of Southern deal. I had Astroturf in the back. You don't want to know why, but I did." Yet another brilliant quote: "The last time I checked, the Constitution said, 'of the people, by the people and for the people.' That's what the Declaration of Independence says." Carry on! ![]() |

Here are some of my favorites. No one is dumber than AlGore!
"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur." -- Vice President Al Gore, 9/22/97 "The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century." -- Vice President Al Gore, 9/15/95 "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it." "I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future." Here's my favorite of all time: "What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is." And last, but never least: "As many of you know, I was very instrumental in the founding of the Internet" --AL Gore to Katie Couric 3/99 Carry on! ![]() |

Jim you don't want to get into an argument over which leader has said the stupidest things. Your guy would win hands down.
Just one example of the thousands of idiotic things he has said: There's an old saying in Tennessee. I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says: "Fool me once..." "... shame on...". "Shame on you..." "If fooled, you can't get fooled again."

Quote:
For those of you from Rio Linda, as my buddy Rush likes to say, and you Dumbocrats, what I am pointing out is that NO ONE is innocent of not having made a gaff in their lives especially when it comes to public speaking. That spoken, if you want to have a competition of stupid quotes, lets go for it. I am sure it will be just as pointless and irrellevant as your grasp of history. Carry on! ![]() |

Jim, keep this one from your beloved leader in mind:
"After all, Europe is America's closest ally." —George W. Bush, Mainz, Germany, Feb. 23, 2005 With one country´s exception, though: 'I don't know why you're talking about Sweden. They're the neutral one. They don't have an army.'' --George W. Bush, during an Oval Office meeting with Rep. Tom Lantos, as reported by the New York Times Yeah, and you all from Yurp, keep this in mind: "We stand for things." —George W. Bush, Davenport, Iowa, Aug. 5, 2004 C´est soir!
