Is it possible to separate the main part of the jetway from the glass partition? I am talking about the jetways from Herpa. Should I just take a sharp hobby knife and cut through. I've noticed pics from some of you in your displays having the jetways attached to the terminals without the "boxed" glass extension attachments.

We just hide the glass/box part, you could use a hobby knife. I dont recomend it.

Yes, they pop right out and leave a small spindle. You won't have to cut anything unless the spindle impedes you in some way.
Gemini's also pop apart. I have used them heavily with my airport dioramas. |

I don't care if the actual jetway moves up or down or side to side...They will be glued in place and I will map out which model will be assigned to what jetway in the pre-construction stages and then place the jetway at the appropriate height and at the appropriate angle....and of course will leave some empty to give it more of a realistic feel to the layout.
I am leaning towards using Plastruct materials since that would save me a bundle, dollarwise, plus, let me be a bit more creative and besides, in any given airport, not all jetways are aligned the same way or have the same length, etc... For the proposed Terminal 4 at JFK, I plan on using 16 jetways from Gemini since those come closest to what the actual jetways look like in reality. Now, at 3 in a set by Gemini, I will need 6 sets, with 2 to spare. At about $10-14 dollars per set, I could be spending $70 dollars and up just on some jetways..... Brian |
