Default Building a Diorama: day 4

Looks like we are back up again, lots of work accomplished but is not very visible yet. Started work on the hangar roof, painting the ramp a lot of time was spent straightening the blast fence and beefing it up a little.

The only parts that are plastic are the roof girders.

A little advice for diorama builders, you can never do enough research. I have been at work 12 hrs a day for the last 3 days so I spent a lot of time on Anet trying to find pictures of this hangar. Since this was the charter ramp at JFK, searched TIA, Capitol, ONA, Modern and the current user of this ramp ABX. Found several shots that will change some things from the original plan. I also was reminded by a few photos that the DC-10s were always parked nose in facing the blast fence, I guess because the number two engine was above the top of the fence and would have blasted out the glass windows in the departure building behind it. Now I just have to figure out how to duplicate all the discarded newspapers, coffee cups and beer cans that were piled up behind the blast fence.
