The hangar lobby was added to the right side, added some windows and doors, then spray painted the whole thing. Marked up some streets and marked building locations on ramp. Started construction of the blast fence, tedious work. Researched the support system on the hangar roof, perused through over 100 pages of JFK on Anet and found only one photo that had this hangar in the background, unfortunatly a KAL 744 is obscurring most of it, still I got enough to sketch out what it will look like. Another tedious job.........
Next: complete blast fence, start hangar roof (this may take some time).

Wow steve, I wish I could model like you! I think my DXB Terminal is way too small for 1:200!

Loving it Steve, particularly the extensive use of Supplemental carriers. It beats my poor shot using a Herpa hangar on another post.

Great idea to document the construction of an airport! It's going to be a great help to me, and to countless others.
What did you use to make the blast fence and windows? |

Blast fence made from Evergreen plastic, the windows are still empty holes.

Great job! Looks fantastic so far... Can't wait to see the finished result!
I have a question...Do you use a filler to clean up the cardboard edges? They look very flush and clean! |

This is not your normal shirt cardboard, this is the cardboard used in picture framing. It helps to make sure all the seams are flush and true when you assemble all the pieces. I change knife blades often. I use putty to fill any cracks, otherwise you can sandpaper any minor imperfections. Then I spray paint it with primer, the primer seals all the open edges and sands down very nice. Each coat of primer makes it look that much smoother and eventually the seams disappear. The hangar shown above has two coats so far, I may add one more.
