Default San Diego Terminal 1 (nee East Terminal) finally done.

Terminals are finally complete (Finished T2/West before T1) now I gotta get my but working on the landside....not looking forward to that.

Lets pretend that USAir didn't close the SAN hub, lets also pretend they never adopted the Blue Tail, maybe 1989 would have loked like this:

That's a lot of "pretending" going on there. Fantastic job Dylan!!! The terminal looks dead-on, and I'm sure I speak for others when I say "can't wait to see more pics."

And pretend that the pics were taken outdoors with the diorama mounted at the rear of his pickup truck.

Amazing dioroma, dylan! How long did you take to get this point, may I ask?

Arguably one of the top 5 model airports ever showcased here.

Damn, Im never gonna quit getting flak for the pick-up truck SNA shots

It took me 6 or so months to get to the almost finished stage. Then It sat for 2 1/2 years as I moved away. It is kept in storage in my mothers house as my apt has no room for them. I can only make it up here every two or so weeks to work on it. To answer your question:4 years. The Terminals and tarmac are 98% done. Just a few tiny details left. It is the landside that i'm dreading...maybe in 6 months or so.

To everybody else: Thanks for the comments!

Looks great, Dylan. I used to watch the planes coming into Lindburgh from Balboa Park back in the late '60s-early '70s, and also from North Park (better view of them landing)...happy times. The terminals are spot-on what I remember from when I would visit San Diego in the '80s on leave. A lotta work went into that model, and it shows.

For the whole month of April evey day I flew over it back and forth for a survey down near the border. Your diorama looks pretty close.

Sorry, but I just couldn't resist it...

Your work (diorama) is always great and it doesn't matter wether it's mounted on back of your truck.

Don't get mad, try a little dedication, why don't you? Lets stop wasting our time time flying around in those little airplanes and lets get serious! You think you can just glue two parts together every 3 weeks and impress us? Not going to happen, this hobby requires precision, speed and agility and you, young man just better get off your arse and and a least pretend you have some interest here.

(BTW very nice work, not quite up to Herpa yet, but nice. I saw a photo of the 1:1 the other day and you hit it right on.)

I have no idea who you are and in fact only know of Dlyan through his post but I'm speaking for MANY when I say YOU are the one talking out of your *** when you say Dylan should show some intrest and dedication. Have seen ANY of his work? It's some of the best EVER posted here at DAC. "Get serious" you say! I hope you were joking because your statement really PISSED ME OFF!

BIG joke. Steve from New York is responsible for the Pan Am WorldPort, LaGuardia's tower and American Hangars, Pan Am Air Hangar at JFK, American's LAX Terminal 4, a little SXM'esque beach airport, and a bad-a ss JFK type cargo terminal. If you like retro, you will LOVE Steve's work (but I'm pretty sure you've seen it already) His work is probably THE best Iv'e seen, and was featured extensively in Lollo's Airport Book.

We jibe eachother once in a while with these types of posts and it's all in good fun.
