just flew into FCO about a week ago and although i was only in the airport for a short time i did not see any model shops. I could have gotten some nice pics as there was a Cathay "Asia's world city" 744, Thai 744, and some other narrow bodies but the sun was bright in the morning and the pics would not have looked good.

I was there in '03. I did not see anything. The little airport in Reggio Calabria, however, had a pile of overpriced plastic battery-op kid's planes!

I can confirm that there are no shops in FCO, but if you'll go visiting Rome there is a very nice shop in the hearth of the city.

I'm sorry, I don't know the name nor the address, but it's not too far from "Trinità dei Monti". From TdM (stairs on your back), straight ahead until you arrive to the the first street with cars, outside the pedestrian area. Turn left and walk for 700-800 meters it's on the left side. I hope this could help you.

If you'll fly with Alitalia don't forget that on international flights they sell two different sets only inflight! Have a great time in Rome!

Sorry to bring this back, but i have been in Rome for about 2 1/2 months and have about 3 weeks left and still have not found this store. I scanned the streets around piazza spagna last weekend and came up empty.
A few questions for ya lollomz At the bottom of the steps do you walk away from the steps to the first street with cars(which is really in the piazza) or do you continue to the next street where you can't see the stairs really? Also once you get to that street you make a left and how far down is it? 800 meters is quite a distance, is actually near the steps or was that just the best way you could describe it to people? Sorry it is just tough because the streets here are not straight, they weave in and out and turn into other streets so i didn't know which way to follow |

I am thinking there is a lifetime of sites to see in Rome and the surrounding areas. The last thing on my list to see would be a hobby shop especially considering that prices would have to be some of the highest you would encounter.

Yes, possibly but i thought it would be nice to see a few models for a change.
Not to get all defensive, but i have been in Rome for 2 1/2 almost 3 months and have seen many things and have been to almost 2 dozen places within Italy. Granted you can spend months here and still not see everything, part of being here is just walking around as you find new things you never would have known were there. That was the plan in looking for this shop. |

The shop is located in "via del Corso" and it's a small toys shop with a good Herpa choice. I don't remember the numer but there is only one shop in that area of the city, you can't go in the wrong shop in that street. I hope this could help you.
