Default My First Terminal Completed: Auckland 1:400

Well, finally, a model airport terminal. I did the smallest one on my Auk/Syd/Narita/LHR/AMS/BKK side to get my feet wet. I failed with paper, foam core and posterboard. Plastruct was the winner.

I did this over 4-1/2 Sundays...about 40 hours. What a blast! Lighting it was my favorite part.

Lots of pics at modelairports.net

Enoy,

Tushar

Very nice! That looks great, and very realistic. I can't wait to see more of your terminals.

Narita seems to make the most sense since it's in the same corner. That'll take some time..... I'm gonna have a beer and watch the little blue New Zealand lights twinkle for a bit.........

Question where did you buy the materials and how did you build the terminal?

Hobby Store. The material is called "Plastruct". You can see some construction pics on my site. I basically cut all the pieces from sheets and beams, then glued them. I printed logos and airbridge sides and glued them over Gemini airbridges that were cut and modified.

Used 1.5 volt hobby lights. Fished them through drilled holes. Used Herpa 1:500 lights glued on top of bulb that was fished through a hollow pole to make 1:400 height.

Used 1:200 RR ladder cur and modified as airbridge stairs

Window tint fil used over window frame and atrium

Hope that answers your question.

Looks great! I like the lighting and how you made the buildings. Also I like how you got the GSE to really "interact" with the aircraft.

LOOK EVERYONE!!!!!!!! In the second pic, the hose going from the fuel truck to the wing of the 747.... I still can't get over the detail in this... I've looked at this several times, and I'm STILL finding new things... Keep going Tushar and I wish you luck for all the upcoming terminals!

Tushar, Looking at the first picture and noticed the wing level on that two 744's are not level to the same height. The no. 2 744 from the right, who produced this one and the one on the left ??

@ Tushar, Great detail on your ANZ Terminal..Awesome . *Claps*

@ Wildcat, Yeah I have noticed that ..Great observation. I also saw a good feature have tags at the yellow line ..the line leading to the gate. where you have this aircraft types written on the pavement. Again. very great details.

One is Dragon and the other Herpa ( unfortunately ). I just bent them both to level them better.

Thanks for all the compliments.
