Default 1:400 Heathrow/Narita/Schiphol/Sidney/Aukland

I'm into fleets and how they line up at their home terminals. My first project is a 4' x 12' combo tarmac ( w/ mirror to double half of it ) which I rendered myself in Photoshop. I made all the ground markings accurate based on photos of the actual tarmacs. I posted a 72 DPI jpg. for you to see the layout. The real file is 300 dpi and almost 2 Gb in size complete will gates, oil stains and traffic guides. I'll be printing it as a single long sheet at Kinkos within a week or two and then mounting it to my custom table that has a foam board top. I will render photo realisitic terminals and mount them to foam board to achieve the actual terminals and airbridges. My fleet to be represented is:

Heathrow Terminal 4: Tribute to the world tails era. I have 20 world tails 747,777,767,737 & Concorde in 1:400 that will dock at the colorful yellow gates. ( I chose to skip doing the white gates with the current union flag livery since its just not as cool ).

Schiphol Pier E & F: (8) KLM 744 o/c ; (3) KLM 777 n/c (3) NWA A330 n/c (2) NWA 744 n/c: 1 NWA DC10 n/c. I love KLM blue next to NWA red.

Narita terminal 2: (8) JAL 744 n/c; 8 JAL MD-11; (4) ANA 744 (1) Marine Jumbo, 1 JAL Disney. I'm using a mirror on one side to double up the model. Love the red rising sun tails in a long row.

Sidney for QANTAS Wunala, Nalanji, Formula 1 747s

Auckland: Lord of the Rings Frodo 747, Aragorn 767 and 747, Eowyn 320.

I'll post progress pics often for your enjoyment. It's nice to meet you all!
BTW: On the otherside, I'm doubling a 13 foot wall with a complete Incheon, CLK & Dubai Term 3. I haven't rendered them yet, but have all the planes layed out. I'm doing (10) Emrates A380s there.

Enjoy,
Tushar

Hope you make this airport. Sounds like a good idea.

Lets also hope it does not come out like the little kids Herpa Wings buildings smashed together that have been on this fourm.

Good luck and a Hoorah to you.

This project looks very promising! Fleet building is a marvelous thing, as is your idea, and I can't wait to see pictures! The preview you posted looks okay, but I suppose it'll be better once it's fully built.

It may appear boring, but if you only have the front section of LHR T4, then you'll only really need the 747/777 and Concorde. It has always been that only Paris and Amsterdam were served from T4 (although this may have been increased now) in terms of European destinations. So the 737 may be less relevant to this setup, although BMED operate their A320/321s from T4 also. The 767s will represent aircraft going to AMS/CDG, but these I belive would normally depart from the stands to the rear of the front pier. If you have included that area then bear in mind that KLM operate from there. Also Sri Lankan and Qantas operate from T4. There may now be more. Check out www.baa.com and www.ba.com

Default BA Term 4 will include the back cul de sac

Thanks ...airman for taking the time to help me with accuracy. Fortunately I have a nook to the side of my table that perfectly fits the back part of T4 including the "U" shaped cul de sac to accomodate the 76 and 73 European destinations. My last trip to Europe I actually took the 76 to CDG and a 734 to AMS. They also had an A320 to/from Nice I took on the way home.

My foils are at the printer. Kinkos was too expensive. www.pixeloutlet was half the price. Should get it for the weekend and then hopefully post pics by next week.

I also ditched the foamboard. Too flimsy and warped. I'm on 3/4" MDF on top of two large dining tables. The foil will be in two 49" x 60" pieces.

Cheers.
