Default Nice model airport of Kai Tak.

I found this while searching for pics of Kei Tak. It looks to be 1:500, and it looks AWESOME!!! I found more pics, but they won't attach to the thread. I'll see what I can do to get them posted. Theres about 5 or 6 more pics.

I remember seeing photos of this years ago! I forgot about this, thanks for sharing the pictures.

BTW, this model is (or was) located in the Kai Tak airport terminal.

This are pictures of the 1998 Kai Tak airport model that was done by the former herpa distributor in Hong Kong, Airliners Group Ltd. It was the first big airport model, 1:500 scale and included all major Kai Tak building plus a runway. All with light, of course. I had a full set of pictures in the old Wings500 database, but the Wings900 team did not enter it into the new database - I guess 'cause it has no airline name on it ;-)

Nope, it wasn't. The model was made after Kai Tak was closed. It was located in the offices of Airliners Group Ltd., Stelux House, 698 Prince Edward Road, San Po Pong, Kowloon. From that building you could see the former Kai Tak airport.

Was located. The huge airport model was part of the Herpa Museum. Airliners Group Ltd. went bankrupt soon after they started big and the offices were closed. Today Expressowings is the herpa importer for Hong Kong, they run a small coffee shop with a small herpa model museum, but as far as I know there is no Kai Tak model any more.

Here is the link to the coffee shop: http://www.expressofood.com/exp_food.htm

Oops, my bad. I thought I read that it was at Kai Tak. Well then again this was years ago when I saw it.

It's a really nice airport set although there are some discrepancies in the set itself. For instance, the tower located on top of the terminal is not there.
Definitely not one of Herpa's idea
