Question Apologies...but please help..

Ok, so apologies, I'm sure the questions have been asked many times before, but trying to search this forum for the answers is proving DIFFICULT! As a new user I haven't seen the answers in what I have managed to read (some of us are int he ofcie you know!!).

Basically, due to moving to a new house I may now be able to set up my airport diarama. I currently have the Herpa main airport and 2 extensions, but the number of aircraft I have is too great for the layout. (through work I have access to airport facilities planning software, and even with a rough timetable I cannot 'gate' all of my aircraft).

So I was thinking of going it alone and creating a custom layout. Having reviewed various threads on here I have noticed numerous references to Pixelports software, but I have also searched for a UK supplier, and cannot find one. Does anybody in the UK know where I can get hold of a copy?

Alos, has anybody used any other methods to create their model diarama?? I have thought about creating the layout by hand and paint, but think I will lack detail and accuracy.

Basically, if anyone has any advice on how I should start 'going it alone' then that would be great. I am thinking of avoiding using the Herpa building (other than maybe the hanger/control tower etc), would this seem a sensible option?

Cheers.

Well I can tell you I am currently doing a "go it alone" type airport...and I am doing it in 1/200 scale....pics to follow....anyway a great way I found is to use balsa wood...then create the facade and print out windows on the computer...I used "fleck-stone" for the roof...and I used formica thin counter-top...for base it really works well. hope this is of some assistance...I hope to have shots of my 1/200 scale airport shortly...

The way i am doing my desinging is on paper. I went to hobby craft and bought a pad of A3 sized paper. Because i want to build an airport that is 51in by 51in i had to design it around the same size so i stuck 10 or 11 pages of A3 paper together until it became 51in by 51in. I then designed what the airport would look like drawing around the herpa buildings it sort of looks crap at the moment so i'm going to change it but after it's done i am i am going to get two pating tables and a piece of plywood!!
