Default 1:250 display under construction...

Feeling that our 1:250 models needed something a little nicer and bigger than our Aerodisplays 1:400 piece to take pictures on, I launched an effort to create such a piece. Here are a few pictures of what I've got so far. This piece will continue under construction for a the next few months as I want to add signage and a section of terminal with gates for the planes.

Here is another one and a picture of Chris hard at work doing a little "weathering touchup" to the taxiways and runway.

Very nice! It looks like the ADI/Airplane Shop has changed a lot since I went about two years ago.

If you haven't been there in 2 years, then yes...the store exploded quite a bit in size.

That looks fantastic. I was going to give the 1:250 scale thing a miss due to too many scales but now I want that Alaska Md80.
Maybe just the one and that will be it.
Love the way you have shown the whole baseboard as it gives a great idea of the scale of the diorama. Gives heaps of ideas and motivation.
Thanks

What do you mean? The whole base is actually a 2' x 4' piece of higher density particle board. The taxiways are painted with Testors #1233 Flat Light Aircraft Gray, while the runway is simply a flat gray primer. The striping is Pactra trim tape which is available in a few different colors at most hobby shops. The grass was a new thing for me though, and is made by Busch, a maker of several other railroading products. A few other personal tricks were used to get the rest of the overall feel. Does that help?

I have only been to the one in New Jersey.

Nice work!
