Oh, and some 1:400 CRJs and civil aviation planes and helicopters would be nice, too.

Two quick questions.
What material did use?? (Name of Manufactuer etc.)
How did you cut the material into the shape you wanted??

One lightsource and several (tinted?) glass fibers going from the light source to the places where you want the illumination.

Graet job!!!

Whose Fiber optics (manufacturer) did you use . . and, how long did it take you to put in the runway/taxiway lights? Also, (you did such a great job, I'm excited by the prospect of doing this myself) are those pixel port schemes and does one have to be an electrician to do the work ? What was the cost ?
I'm sure that I will have more questions for you later on this. I just wanted to say that your setups and airport models are some of the best posted here !

I did not use the Pixelport schemes. Personally I do not like them. I purchased a board 3' by 4' and designed everything (runway, taxiway, tarmac, terminals). I think it is more fun this way. The fiber optics I purchased from www.fiberopticproducts.com The fibers are not expensive (they are easy to work with), but the light source are not. I used .75 fibers (with different colors LED units). I used Evergreen plastics for the terminals. The gates were Gemini Jets gates that I painted and then drilled a small hole where I was able to put a fiber through. The complete project probably took about 3 months. The cost? I have no idea; my guess (when I add all the materials) is about $700.

Thanks,

Ramon

Thumbs up

Your "Holding Position Line" is too close to the Runway,
look at a photo of the real thing, it sould be further back.

Note how far to the right in the photo the "Hold Position Line" is.
(Click on photo to see a larger photo)

Otherwise you have a great airport !

You ARE kidding, right?

This airport is stunning. So what if the hold position in an inch or two too far right?

Show us your spectacular, highly detailed, fibre-optically lit airport with perfect positioning lines...

Sheesh!

See the below photo to see the protipical placement of the
"Hold Position Line"

And please dont get all mad about some constructive comments,
even the BEST airports (Model or Real Life) could be made
better.

The small details make a great airport a superb airport.
