Default Planning an Airport

Okay, so I'm planning an airport. Don't worry, I AM going to build it.
So, it's going to be a small regional airport (location undecided, somewhere in US) with 12 gates. Two runways will be displayed (perpendicular). All the major US airlines will be there and an open gate will be available for other airlines, all airline's codeshare partners will use their partner's gates. I hope to finish it sometime in May, maybe April. It's 1:500.

I'm starting out by creating my own foil. It will be more detailed than any foil you can find on the net. There will be all kinds of stuff from water, oil, tire marks, wear, cracks, asphalt fillings. The only thing that won't be paper will be the grass which I will stick on. I tried this method of design for past airports like Audubon Intl. The terminal will be constructed out of wood or plastic (undecided). The foil design on the computer will take the longest (a month or so). The amount of detail is almost limitless for me on the tarmac, that is why I like the computer so much. I have provided a sample.

I'm going to print it as sections on tough paper and fit them perfectly. What I did to scale everything to 1:500 scale is I took a 757 (seen in the picture) and expanded it and everything else to make the 757's wingspan 3 inches (which is how big it is in 1:500). So that's how I did that.

The black lines are the taxiway centerlines. I will create all the taxiway lines with black and then duplicate the lines, reduce them to a thinner stroke, and change the color to yellow, therefore I make the perfect black-yellow-black taxilines they really are. I have methods like that for all the elements of the tarmac. So here is a picture of what it looks like now. I'll keep posting pics as I make progress. Ask any questions you have!

Thanks,
HB

Oh, by the way, the little dot to the 10 o'clock of the 737 is a person in 1:500 scale!

Okay. I'm finished with the taxiway lines. The picture in the original post is updated (I'll just keep doing that) Next I'll do the terminal area tarmac. The terminal area is the hardest part of the hardest part so it will take at least a week. Here is a picture of what the lines look like.
BTW: The airport will be open to fanstasy flights in a month or so (when i do the scheduling)

Looks great so far! Can't wait to see the entire airport being done!

As a side note, what program is that, anyway?

Well, as you can see, it's Canvas 9. It's by a company named Deneba. You can get it for about $400. I got it back when it was in its early versions and very cheap. Now it's a high powered graphics editor. It's all the tools of Microsoft Office in one. Pretty simple to use too.

Okay, today I made the most progress. I believe at its state now, this foil would be just like a fresh new airport. No stains, no water, no skid marks, no cracks, no fillings. That's all gonna change tomorrow.
BTW: Can anyone spot anything I'm missing?
BTW: The picture on the original post has been updated.

I've outlined the terminal building and removed the jetways along with the airline logos. I've also added the single roadway for the service vehicles. Here is a picture of the detail I have now. You can see that I have the streaming radio and live stats for the #1 Tulane baby! vs. McNeese State in baseball. Tulane's gonna take it all the way past Omaha!
