Has anyone used 1:500 herpa accesories like gangway with 1:400 aircraft? Does it look ok or it's really ugly?
I'm building a terminal right know in wood but gangway are way too hard to make and i was wondering if i could use a 1:500 one with my DW and GJ aircrafts. |

Cereal KiIIer: You be the judge......here's 1:400 model with 1:500 jetway:
....and here's 1:400 model with 1:400 jetway: Obviously, the 1:400 is preferable, but the 1:500 will do in a pinch. Malcolm

I think they look perfect. I use the Herpa Jetways on all my 1:400 scale airports. Hope this helps.

Strangely, i find the 1:500 better with the 1:400 (jugding by what I see on the pics)
And the herpa's terminals don't look bad either .... |

I use herpa's airport set on 1:400 and they match. However, the herpa's airport set seems to be a bit larger for 1:500.

For the wide bodied a/c, they're a bit small.......as this photo illustrates: This last photo (it's an older one taken before any ground markings were done) clearly shows the perfect fit of a 1:400 jetway with a 1:400 B772: Herpa's terminals are just fine if you're only looking for a "cookie cutter" type of diorama. The Herpa terminal was my first effort. Since then I've built my own second terminal and I prefer it, if for no other reason than that it's different. Terminal Three is in the works, but not until after the Holidays. Malcolm

Is it me, or do we beat this 1/400 1/500 GSE topic to a pulp every month.. Hello, there is a search.. everyone seems to ask this question all the time... no offense, but the official answer is:
1. If you are anal retentive and a stickler for detail, the NO don't use 1/400 GSE with 1/500 GSE. 2. If you can't tell the difference between a truck that is 17mm long and 15.5mm long then YES do use them. 3. If you often have parties with airplane nerds that carry laser guided measuring devices, then NO, do not use them. 4. If you are the only one in the world that knows that the scales are not "right", then YES, use them. 5. If you often invite GSE technicians and Airbus engineers over to your house for tea and crumpets, then NO, do not use them. 6. If your still reading this post and you've realize how much sarcasm is in it, then YES do use them. just had to have some fun.. Seriously, it is up to you.. but only you will know.. I used mixed 1/400 and 1/500 GSE with my airport and the difference isn't enough for me to get myself upset over. Some people would get their panties in a wad over this, to each his own.. -FD |
