Default My Retro San Diego Airport

Hey guys...Ive been dormant for a little while. I used to make 1:600 scale airports but have since made the switch to 1:400.
I went ahead and started construction of my favorite all-time airport,SAN, and based it from about 1977 to 1983. You will never see anything New-Gen....just great retro jets. The following pics are of the west terminal while it is about 75-80% complete. Let me know what you think.

Thumbs up

Dylan...

I love Heineken, and I love your airport even more. One of the best i've ever seen. You got the dimensions down to a crisp. Five stars. Everything looks great. Terminal 2 hasn't changed too much from it's retro stage. Props to you.

Later I'll PM you for more info.

Thanks for the pics

Thumbs up Great!!!

You've really outdone yourself there!

Just one suggestion: Get rid of that Phoenix Hughes Airwest DC-9 and get you the one from SMA!

Well, okay........ a second suggestion: Change to German beer! You won't regret it!

Uh...thats like Eddy Van Halen saying: "Dude, your a good guitarist". Compliment not taken lightly. Thank YOU for raising the bar on model airport building and sharing your work (which I, and probably everyone else use as reference)

Excellent airport Dylan especially with the Heineken background. You might want to consider the Air California 737's including the Jet-X AirCal as well to put in your airport depicting the CA theme. Robert

Robert, I wasnt sure about adding AirCal because they never seemed to have sked service into SAN. Ahhh fukc it, im gonna buy two "sunflower" birds this weekend.

Air California to begin scheduled service San Diego, Orange County, and Oakland.

I was looking on the internet for models (I'm such a geek, I should be looking at and downloading porn!) and yes I will say it... try looking at www.collectablejets.com for the Black Box Air California 732's and even the PSA 732 as well. The site also has a 15% off coupon. Robert.

That will be great additions!
What we need then are Hughes Airwest and Air West F-27s!!!

Natural Light? Never heard of that, perhaps it's from Eastern Germany!

Default Nice job Dylan!

Dylan,

The airport looks fantastic! How about some wide bodies to remind us San Diegans of the days when we had a variety of 767s, DC-10s and L-1011s? There was even a UA 747 in late '83. It'd just fit into your time frame
