Default Herpa Model Airport Sets

Hi there, I'm really new to the model airport idea and interested in starting out. I've seen some of the Herpa sets and was wondering if anyone could tell me how good/bad they are and how easy/difficult they are to use.

I'm quite interested in picking up some foils and a few buildings as well as some a/c in 1:500. Does everything come pre-assembled and fit together nicely, or is it a nightmare?!

Thanks in advance.

The planes come preassembled, as do the accessories.
The buildings you piece together, layer by layer, or thats how they used to be done.

All in all, its pretty easy to do.

Thanks for the quick response -

do the buildings involve any gluing or just snap together?

Also, how do the hexagonal terminal buildings fit on to the Ezytoyz foil - ie do they fit well/is there a space? Any pics showing how?

Thanks again,

The hex buildings dont fit on well at all, because the ground markings are set for the regular terminals.

The buildings just snap together.

You could look into making your own.

Ahh... too much work!

Thanks for the quick response, I'll look in to the regular shapes or perhaps a Herpa foil.

Thanks again,

the best is to make your own airport. You can use the herpa buildings like myself but the apron, taxiways, parkings, ..... i made them myself. I have two herpa sets the cargo and the hangar. i would buy these two cause they are great but the terminal set is to small. I am making my own airport now with two terminals. Its much more fun to, to make it yourself.

I personally use the Herpa 1:500 airport sets. Currently I have one set which is my first terminal. I don't find it too hard to make different airport designs out of them. I am planning on buying some more "parts/sections" of the airport set to create my new Star Alliance and One World/SkyTeam terminals.

So my lil brain should be able to cope fine with assembling the pieces?! Could someone detail what comes in the box and the amount of work needed to put them together? Any specialist equipment or literally snap together?

Thanks, very grateful,

To assemble Herpa Buildings you need:
Eyes
Fingers
and the abillity to put things ontop of another

if you can do all of the above, you dont need to see your doctor.

All around, if you cannot put Herpa buildings together, you are an idiot who needs help.

Thank you.

So about half of the members on DAC would be unable to do it....
