This time of year, go to a craft store like hobbylobby, even walmart. Find the Chirstmas Village displays, and you'll have two choices, night time, and day time. The company that makes them is Lenox I think.

A commercially-available background would not only involve the printed backdrop, it would also have to include some sort of supporting structure. This is the case with Revell Germany's plastic kit #09032 LIGHT + SOUND 'TORNADO IDS' Diorama Set that has plastic columns holding up a washable plastic foil background.
Depending on how large your background needs are, you may be able to find an appropriate panoramic photo that you can print out and crop to fit. The following are examples of photos that I have taken which use panoramic shots as backgrounds. Air Force One just prior to arrival of motorcade (http://photosflorida.com/gallery/president.htm) ![]() Dragon Wings #50030 USN 'Top Gun' F/A-18 Hornet Presidential entourage at Air Force One (http://photosflorida.com/gallery/president.htm) ![]() Model Power #6440 USA AH-64A Apache (Olive) 030815-N-6213R-313 Pacific Ocean (Aug. 15, 2003) (http://www.news.navy.mil/view_galler...category_id=10) Corgi #AA33201 USN VF-111 "Sundowners" F-4 Phantom Please click on the links for larger images. Joshua has posted a photo of his Herpa Airport here on DA.C at Building an Herpa Airport and on Wings900 as Building the Herpa Airport. In the Wings900 discussion, he mentions that the background scenery is a Faller #514 N-Scale model railroad product.
![]() While I don't know exactly where to find this particular product, I did find a website that is of interest, BackDrop Warehouse. Available either as a BackGround (BG CM 168Me) or as a BackDrop (BD CM 811215Me), this image appears to measure 36 inches by 12 feet, which should be more than adequate for a sizable airport layout. ![]() There is quite a variety of other background scenes available on the site, in case you want to stay away from the big city. ![]() - Gavin |
