Question How great a demand is there here for....

Accurate scale airport runway surfaces, taxiways, etc.

I notice that what is shown here is primarily inaccurate, in that the things like markings, coloring, etc. are not realistic in their appearance.

Is it too difficult to create these surfaces to at least appear real??

Runway surface areas show to be too compacted, rather than their true distances, especially in the markings, like the distance lines...

Would a more accurate example- if built- be desirable here?

I realize that the available offerings may be slim in variety, but those items which are scratchbuilt here- things such as the artificial grass- seem to look completely out of proportion in relative thickness and realism...

Being too nit-picky?

Perhaps, but if you are going to make that much of an effort here, you might as well do it right- or at least- better than that which I see there

Thanks

You do realize working at that small of a scale, everything will seem odd..

However, are these not realistic enough for you?

(dont' comment on the ground foil, just the signs and grass..)

Oh as for runways, i've yet to attempt that... for terminal details/scale, look at my other posts.. and for lighting, well i've been experimenting with fiber optics....

and not to mention the pixelport groundfoils which are coming out in January (!) were designed strongly regarding the issue of accuracy: runway signs, length, withs, taxiways, everything is on scale!

Smile Scale Model vs Diorama

My model airport (Somerset Int'l) is a diorama..It is not my intention to build everthing true to scale with percise and accurate markings. I use my diorama to display my models (beats leaving them on a shelf). There are some excellent model airports on this forum with some very realistic displays. Some members are building true scale model airports vs. dioramas. When it comes down to it just you enjoy what you are doing and have fun. It's a great hobby!
