The "stone wall" looks AWESOME!

Chris,

The stone wall that you used looks so realistic and reminiscent of Hawai`i in the old days. Add some black coloring with grey inlay representing the "concrete" binding, and I bet it would look even more fantastic.

Just simply put it.....VERY CREATIVE! Keep up with the flawless work!

Default Materials

777,

The building is made from Evergreen Plastic's styrene sheeting and the rock wall is also stryene. Some details such as awnings over the windows and coloring (thank Iron Rebel) have yet to be completed.

Aloha,

Chris

Default 777: Both

Model train shops for sure. They usually have the best selection. Most hobby stores that are into trains, model planes, etc should have it too.

Good luck.

Aloha, Chris

Great job. Just wondering did Hawaiian ever have MD-80's at one time? Or were the orders cancelled?

Arrow Cool!

I am surprized you didn't use Hawaiian's Slogan of that time period on the hanger for the Super 80. Like, Welcome Super 80 for joining Our "Island's in the Sky.". "Island's in the Sky." was used by Hawaiian when the Super 80 and Dash 7 were in the fleet.

I flew on the Super 80 during the mid 80's. They flew for a short time but were replaced with -50's.

Default Hawaiian MD-80 slogan

Hawaiian's slogan from the late 70's until the introduction of the MD-80 was "Somebody Up There Likes You' and some variations of it. With the new MD-80's a new slogan was introduced, "Beautiful." I believe "Islands in the Sky" was Aloha Airlines. Here's a copy of the ad introducing the MD-80

I have an cut up brochure when I went to Hawaii and the "Islands in the Sky" was a Hawaiian Air slogan. It was used for the DASH-7 service but also was used for the DC-9 series planes. The time was early 80's!

Default Craig...

Now you've got me wondering. My information came from the creative director of the ad agency at the time. "Islands in the Sky" must have been some kind of sub-theme. Thanks for the information.

As Jet-X, said the two models in the two pack are identical, except the registrations that is. They were the only two MD-80's bought by, delivered new to and operated by Hawaiian Airlines. All other MD-80's in their fleet were leased.
