You can use transparentcies like are used for overheads,
Also, regular plastic painted black works too.

Talking

Microscope cover slips are extremely thin squares of plastic used to cover material on slides. They are placed on a drop of water to make them stay. During my experiences in biology I have found that they are very, very, very easy to drop, crack, or lose because of their absolute transparency and thinness, so although they might make great windows in 1:400 scale I would handle them with care.

On the other hand, these things would probably be dirt-cheap, so no worries if you lose one. Good luck!

Exclamation

Transparency sheets are probably the cheapest way to go- clear styrene sheets scratch too easily and fog up with certain adhesives.
