Nice additions. I especially like the T-55. It is a T-55, right? T-55, 62, 72 all look the same to me...

How do you plan to display them? Are you going for any themes, or just what gets your attention? I'm really liking my Pershing. I want to carry it around with me.

my love for armor is almost the same as military aircraft....have done almost a dozen tanks and APV and vehicles too from tamiya in 1/35 scale, decades ago. As a diecast collector, Im totally a newbie with armor....still got a long way to go to collect all what I want.I find 1/72 scale just right at the moment which goes together with my military aircraft collections. To be honest, those tiny tanks arent that cheap considering its size to the price but I like the details done on it. Regarding to how to display or theme....still got no idea but time will tell...I just hope you wont get as addicted as me,Scott....starting all over again..... with armor this time.......

Why does it Have "Hadrian's Wall" on the side? Does it do site-seeing flights over the wall?

seeing components clean is a very good sign that things are in good shape....seeing oil leakages just means....theres a big problem....lol
Certain aircraft fleets of the airline are named after historical places, cities, person etc...at least, with KLM.....thats the way its done....no idea how other airlines name their aircraft.......

Nice additions. That 106 is a beauty. I see it has a place of honor among some other great releases. The detail and paint are simply awesome. I don't know how they get that red stripe on the pitot tube, but it looks classic.

Your M-46 and tank hauler look very detailed. I like to see the road wheels on the Challenger IIs, but it looks right at home on the trailer.

I'm not so sure about the Leopard. it looks like it has a little less detail. What brand is that?

Thanks for the update. Do you have a plan for displaying the armor?

That F-106 looks just great. I still don't have one yet, this may be the one I go for first.

I see the 106 as a must for those who collect the Century series...the beauty of the model is undeniable and irresistible..., Regarding the Leopard, I believe its from Altaya but the box hasnt any trademark on it...and besides its the only Leopard in town as far as I know, The detail is much less to be honest when compared to renowned mark as HM or corgi,...etc. Lots of new molds and models are still on my wish list,Scott but as I said....Im being too picky with models that I buy nowadays.....

I wondered how long you could hold out. That is a superb offering. The red highlights, new ordnance, and shark's mouth make this a very attractive model. I put mine on a Witty F-14 stand and rotate it every couple days from bottom view to side. It's just such an interesting loadout.

I hope you have the Hobby Master HA3810 F-16A Fighting Falcon FSD Prototype on your list. I remember your positive comments about it earlier and hope you haven't talked yourself out of it.

That's a fine collection of 1/48 jets. I never had the patience for the detail required on aircraft, so I switched to beat-up ground pounders. Even that seemed like a lot of time and energy, but it was very enjoyable (when things went smoothly).

I think my last plastic jet was a 1/72 S-3 Viking. It was beautiful with that gloss white and gray scheme... but so much work filling the gaps, sanding painting... I love diecast

Nice plastic models. I'm thinking of getting into kit-building now, just to supplement the collection with types that aren't available in diecast. I haven't built since I was a kid though, if I'm no good I'm going to commission someone at the local model-building club

thanks to both of you, guys....now and then, im still trying to decide when Ill go back to plastic modelling.Ive got still around 5 1/48s to be built which lies in the attic for more than 16 years....lol....Its the spare time and the determination to start this hobby once again....and also the expense that goes with it....paints arent cheap nowadays.Having a model made isnt cheap tho specially if you find a pro-modeller.In any case Im busy nowadays renovating anewly acquired hobbyroom for myself and to try making space like glass shelve for future models...diecast / plastic models....seems theres no end in this dumb hobby....

Without model kits, there wouldn't be any diecast planes Great you still have your plastic models. I might get back into the hobby myself. Probably stick with fighters. Pretty sure I dont have the patients or skill to build a decent 1:72 B-52

yeah, CP....there are so much new plastic models offered out there when you compare it from say 25 years ago...like a E2C Hawkeye, Migs etc, ....its really tempting....As for diecast, its sometimes frustrating to wait for a particular aircraft so long and perhaps we can never see it....

Wish I had the patience and ability to make plastic models...tried before, they all have to be made in an hour, otherwise thats it!
My mate has just made me a 1:72 scale nimrod, heres some very poor photos of it(thats a 1:72 scale tornado next to it.)

Have to agree it is annoying when models get canceled. I can think of Red Falcon's MiG-23 and Corgi's 160th SOAR Blackhawk Would love to have these models in my collection.

Well if you finally get round to building model kits, I look forward to your pics

"Ive got still around 5 1/48s to be built which lies in the attic for more than 16 years" - I’m even worse, I have a 1:48 Hasegawa Ju 87D-8 along with a 1:24 Tamiya Ferrari F50 which were I think 10th and 11th birthday presents from well-meaning relatives, they've been in the closet since. So I hold the record at 17/18 years . I should really do something about that.

I've been looking around and decided soon to try build up a collection of the naval/maritime types that I love. Seeing pictures of favorites like the Kingfisher below are pretty inspiring.

Photo credit: José Teixidó (source: Not your average Kingfisher | Blitz72.com)

I came across this page http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2007/09/fleet-air-arm-models-01.htm (two parts) and the theme and types really appeal to my taste.

The Brewster Buccaneer, Vought Vindicator, Curtiss Seamew etc are all diecast wishlist types but with the likely manufacturers being so quiet lately, maybe I should get building instead of waiting for what might not happen.

@mar_ji, Mr mcdoodle and others: Thanks for also sharing your pictures of plastic kit models, it's great to see the them together with diecast in collections.

@CP: A 1:72 B-52 would be a challenge but I'm thinking along those lines. Maybe larger models might be a good starting point for me to (re)learn on, lots of room to work with. When I think of my ineptitude and frustration when trying to do repairs on my 1:72 diecast fighters, I think I'm going to have to start with the cheapest kits of bigger aircraft I can find. And we won't be seeing diecast 1:72 B-36s, B-52s, B-1s, B-47s so would be nice from that point of view.

Good luck with that. I was able to build decent models of F-4, F-16 planes. F-104s were pretty easy to do. B-47 didn't turn out too good, guess we all have our limitations

I have plans of getting a 1/48 or 1/72 scale E-2C Hawkeye in the near future to test my skill if i can do it....I find it a sort of frustrating that we might not get this in diecast model in the coming 10 years....

After assembling Witty and Dragon diecast, you should have no issues with plastic kits.

I don't see a Hawkeye or Greyhound being released by any diecast maker. It's not something "casual" collectors would be interested in. I would buy every one of them, along with a fleet of Vikings and Vigilantes, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

BTW, I'm not an insane collector... I don't always do what the voices in my head tell me... just occasionally.

You should post your pics over at 1:1 Scale Commercial Aviation subforum. I'm sure they would be appreciated there too. Wouldn't mind adding an MD-11 model to my collection. HM do a 1:200 model but I hear it's not very good.

oh,well...youre right,CP...but i seldom visit the sub forum you just mentioned and furthermore, i seldom post pics of commercial aircraft which i work with,,,so i just stick to posting it here...anyone can take a view of my pics either here or from other subforums ...so, theres really no problem about it.....

That would be a shame mar_ji The pics are pretty good. There's not many who are able to see real planes up close. I liked the hangar shots you posted a while back. They were kinda cool

Very cool pics... especially the shots of the engines being removed.

The DC-10 is a great plane. Sad to see it go. I think FedEx still uses them, but not really sure.

It's nice to see the F-101 join your collection. Great choice. HM did a really nice job and released a great quality model.

Yeah... it looks like your F-4 ground crew are off taking a coffee break.

I wonder if the cap to a ball point pen would work for the Dakota. Keep your eye open in unusual places, and you may just run across something that will fit.

the C-47 in the pic is just a Monogram 1/48 scale which I assembled about a decade ago...its really a big model and included with the model are 12 paratroops. I plan to give this model a special place in my hobby room later......still trying to consider if ill repaint it in camo....

Wait a minute! That F-101 is a plastic kit. I thought the Minnesota ANG came out, and you had gotten it already. Nice job! It looks great. Where have you been keeping all these plastic kits?

Sweet pics.

Hey! What's that red button on the joystick? I thought those things were unarmed?!?!

I like KLM's naming scheme... "Hadrian's Wall", and now "Mount Kilimanjaro".
