Smile Air Shows

Was asked to start a new thread for Air Shows. The air show season is apon us and I thought we could see how many Air Shows we could get DAC members at this year. Please start listing the air shows you plan on attending (good way to meet up at a show) and then get back to the rest of us with news, pics, and tall tales. I know we already have some threads started with this type of info, was just hoping to consolidate.

I will be attending the Nellis Air Show later this fall. Hope to see some of you there.

Hot off the press..

Space & Air Show at Kennedy Space Center

Just announced: The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will headline the 2008 Space & Air Show at Kennedy Space Center on November 8th and 9th.

This year’s show will bring together the best in military aircraft, coupled with precision pilots and veteran astronauts to celebrate space flight and military aviation.

The highlights of this year's show include:

* The dark blue and yellow-striped F/A-18 Hornet jets blazing across the skies over NASA’s Space Shuttle launch and landing headquarters.

* The 920th Rescue Wing, an Air Force Reserve Command combat search and rescue unit, will stage an astronaut rescue simulation and demonstration, to showcase their skills and training in support of the U.S. space program.

* Astronaut Autograph Show - featuring astronauts from the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs.

* Aircraft displays and space related exhibits along the air show viewing area.

* Other military and civilian flight demonstrations and performances are being added to the schedule and will be announced.

This is only the second time the Blue Angels have performed at Kennedy Space Center. Over 30 years have passed since they last visited America’s gateway to space.

Kennedy Space Center is just east of Orlando, Florida.

Space & Air Show tickets coming soon!

Default 2008 Air Show Thread

Post 2008 airshow information, pics and info in this thread.

No airshow is too small...ok well some are! If it's just a personal diecast airshow, I'd probably keep that one to myself!

Out of the two air shows in North Dakota (minot, grand forks) I would go for the Grand Forks Air show. the Minot air show is nice, and is not as crowded, but I think Grand Forks has more to offer. Break Break: Just read that Thunder Over the River has been cancelled. Dont know why, but head to the Minot AFB Northern Neighbors day in September

For now, a quick posting!

It was a spectacular 3 days at YYZ ... saw the following aircraft:

C-140 Aurora
C-130 Hercules
CF-18 Hornet
F-16 Viper

etc.

Also had the amazing experience of seeing the Snowbirds aircraft "up close and personal", meeting all the pilots and talking with Pilot #8, Opposing Solo, Captain Mark LaVerdiere!!!
A truly friendly, nice guy!

I always make it a point to go to the Miramar Air Show in San Diego! This year they will have the Blue Angels, Canada's Snowbirds and civilian performers as well as more static displays than you can shake a stick at!

My recomendation is Radom Airshow 2009 in Poland. There will be aircraft from:
Poland, Ukraine, Belarus (! - with Su-27, Su-24, Il-76 in the air!), Czech, Great Britain, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Slovakia. There is also probability to see other countries. Airshow is 29-30 August in Radom-Sadków airfield.
Web: AIRSHOW Radom is down Warsaw for about 100 km with express route Airshow is made by Polish Air Force.

For any of you that have not seen the Snowbirds. It is treat of a lifetime. The Angels and T-Birds are NO match for the 9 plane formation flying of the Snowbirds

Yeah, yeah, yeah.... I've seen the Snowbirds, and they ARE excellent, no taking that from them. But they're just a patch on the Angels...

You have GOT to be joking! The Angels are excellent at VERY close and tight formations, but that's all!!

I suppose you're going to drag the Red Arrows into this... Another excellent flying team, like the Frecce Tricolori (not counting Ramstein ), I've seen all these flying teams at one time or another. The Angels are legendary, have a huge fan base in many countries, and never fail to wow the crowd. When the Angels come to town, people flock to the show. If another flying team, even the T-birds, are advertised, they don't generate the same level of interest.
