Tamiya 1/48

The South Vietnamese Air Force first Skyraider Squadron (in this markings) was under personal command of General Nguyen Cao Ky ( later he became the youngest VP of South Vietnam). They only fly special operation missions to support South Vietnamese commandos.

Very nice build and paint finish, can't really go wrong with a Tamiya spad. Certainly an unusual looking camo, think I've only ever seen one kit painted up in it. Would make a good contrast to the SEA camo planes.

Beautiful Skyraider cnq, very impressed and more than a tad jealous!

These VNAF schemes are a goldmine of potential releases for HM, it baffles me they have not done any yet, though in light of recently announced VNAF/VPAF releases I live in hope!

Even if they do though yours will still be nicer, love the weathering and detail you put in and in 48 it must be physically imposing too!

I believe it was part of an USAID "hearts and minds" program, trying to raise living standards in the North..

I have heard rumours there are currently plans for a similar aid package for India.

Nah, JK (I hope I haven't offended the anti-humour Gestapo again!): it was to commemorate the 6,000,000 lb of ordnance delivered by the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club and was a damaged toilet which had been due to be ditched, but instead had fins attached and was slung under a VA-25 A-1H.
