Good news that they finally stop doing generic Arab airforce releases, you'd think with nearly 70 yrs of wars, there would be would be a few that got kills or been in notable actions.

The drawing looks right but I won't be holding my breath or getting excited till I see photos of the finished product.

Though denied by the IASDF, Syrian pilots in MiG-23MLs claimed F-16 kills, and rumours surrounding an F-15A persist despite the best efforts of Israel's famously skilled liars.

Of course, for the purposes of both LM's/Boeing's marketing team and the Israeli Ministry of Truth and Public Enlightenment intimidation/bullying of admitting such losses is anathemic, so I doubt the truth will ever be known..

Soviet MLs also splashed Pakistani Vipers apparently. Again though, I doubt complete details will ever out.

Pre-prods up for this on HMC:

What do you guys think of the blue? I don't reckon it looks too bad this time around, especially if we allow for the hue/saturation issues HM's pre-prods often suffer (in photos) vs the real release..

Sigh.... The pictures tell the story...

Blue looks better only because of the lighting compare to the earlier Flogger photos, seeings how they used the same tone for the camo, my guess is the blue will be no different.

Also are the weapons correct ? Least of it's probs I guess lol

No sale

looks smurfy!

lots of overspray and that gap along the spine

p.s. is the nose a wee bit short?

I think the foreshortening of the nose may be the angle of the photo - it's not an error previously noticed and I doubt this model has had the mould changed for it.

The brown isn't great either, judging from the artwork at least..

it's not. it's just that the nose cone grey is longer than it should be... although the fault could actually lie in the artwork rather than the model.

It's not the use of blue but the tone of it, right in the drawing, wrong on the actually model

Hard to be 100% sure from a photo but that does indeed look like the same blue used on the Libyan one, and if that's the case then that's a shame - I was looking forward to this release.

Anyway who cares what tone it is exactly. And don't forget you can always squint and pretend you're colour blind when looking at that model

The thing is it is hard to ignore! I had the Libyan one and I kept catching the blue out of the corner of my eye - it ruined the rest of the shelf! So, I ended up offloading it.

Well, they did get the overspray correct. The blue not so much. I'm at 50/50 on this.

Judging from the pictures provided, I think underside blue is correct for the two-tones camo, but too bright for the three-tones one. Colors of the three-tones camo look too bright too. HM should take care of this, otherwise we won't see a correct Arab MiG-23.

One thing is sure, if it was a Canadian MiG-23, everything would be spot on !

and that's probably also the reason why "russian jets don't sell" but "rcaf flies off the shelves" too

HM needs to get the blue correct on the production units or it's unfortunately a no-go for me. I have poured thru pics online hoping Mystere and Cheesecake were wrong but no, the two tone camo had the 'robin egg blue' not this example. I cannot spend $100.00us on this. Sorry William.

I may be just grasping at straws here, but does this look a bit brighter or am I just lying to myself?

The whole thing is wrong, the incorrect tone of blue could only be forgiven, not apologised for, had they got the camo right, which they didn't, again...

Would of loved to add this as part of my growing Middle East theme but happy to let it go.

Attachment 243497
Straws mate that looks closer to the HM drawing but still much lighter shade of every colour, you could argue it's been weather beaten but no way would they have been as dark as the HM pre pro, I'd imagine that would stick out like a sworn thumb. The colours need to be toned down like the better IDF releases.

IMO ...I know I know...here he goes again ..that BB and colors ....

In terms of colors not camo design...If you ask me....I think they set out to do the drawing colors ... But somewhere along the line they changed the colors to what's shown below....that mustard yellow color looks almost spot on from the real plane to the pre pro.....or am I just color blind in one eye and cockeyed in the other

BB

Is that a captive museum paint job though ?

But I think your onto something there, drawing looks like period camo, this real life photo and what HM might of ended up using as a reference might be a museum piece, captured by the Israelis, they have a few like that.

I did run across this pic while searching on my tablet. I thought it looked like one of those sim pics you see, so I gave it no time. Looks like UF is correct, HM went with this image to finalize the model. I am dissapointed, as this was going to be my 1st MiG 23.

This can be HM's next Flogger, an ex-Egyptian on display in China, maybe they can even go and visit it as part of research and instead screw it up to get the colours right, not like the museum camo

they should do a diorama. that way they can use their blue paint for the surrounding perimeter poles

What's the bet they can match the colour of the poles but not the aircraft
