The bare-metal Voodoo and F-104 are my faves. Careful not to start the threadmill though!

Thanks guys.

Yes that one is plastic kit as there is no diecast being made yet for this model.
I hope that will change in the future though.

You need to add the CF-18 AETE model, it's one of the most beautiful HM model out. During the US 4th of July weekend, many US distributors run sales and it may be deep discounted for you to find. A week and a half from now, you could get it at a super price.

The jet you are referring to is Hobby Master HA1011, CF-104 Starfighter, RCAF "701". The Starfighter, aka "lawn-dart", "widow-maker", was Canada's front line fighter/interceptor during the Cold War with squadrons stationed at RCAF bases in Germany and France. This model is htf and IMO one of HM's best releases. What you think are "red bombs" on the wingtips are actually Detachable Fuel Tanks. I have this beautiful a/c in my Canadian Collection and absolutely love it...

Yes what Spooky said about the Starfighter.
Just keep looking in your local for sale newsgroup and ebay for it. It may come up sometime.

He needs to compliment it with the twin-seater.

The HM two-seat (trainer) version is an easy find and also reasonably priced. Personally not a big fan of two-seat Starfighter, simply because it's such a small a/c, with a larger canopy, which, IMO, seems to distort the sleek lines associated with this beautiful interceptor. There's also CF-104 HA1016 (single-seat), No. 417 Sqn., that has a very nice euro-camo scheme. I have HA1016 and HA1011 flying side-by-side...

I have all five Hobby Master Starfighters and they are all quite impressive. But HA1011 is in a class of its own.

Here's a few more pics of Hobby Master, CF-104 Starfighters, including: HA1060 (two-seat), HA1016 (single-seat) "camo", there's also HA1054 (two-seat) "camo", and the HA1005 "Tiger Meet" version. All very cool Canadian Starfighters...

Can't agree more, HA1011 is the superstar of the Starfighter lineup.

Here she is in real life - absolutely gorgeous...

Hard time controlling myself when it comes to HM-HA1011.

Here's a few of my favorite photos of this RCAF Starfighter.

Blue background photos are from Dan's HA1011 DAC Review.

Had to include a pic of my beauty as well - on flight stand.

It's also cool to display HA1011 with wingtip tanks removed.

Cheers...

If this forum has made me realize anything, it's how very little I care about ever visiting Australia. What is with the attitude? It's petty and it's ugly.

Clearly Canadians are culturally closer to Americans, sharing the same extremely thin-skins our Seppo mates are notorious for, than they are to their British roots.

I apologise profusely for any offence caused and will refrain from making any light-hearted comments in future. Quite clearly cultural barriers prevent such remarks from being taken as intended.
I've served with Australian RAAF B707 AAR aircrew and made several friendships during the time Canadians and Australians shared the same base in Kuwait City enforcing the Southern Iraq No Fly Zone in 1998.

If you think your sense of humour is typical for any Australian - you are simply being delusional.

Trolling for a reaction and then pretending to apologize for it is simply despicable and not at all welcome here.

You did the same thing on the CWH Arrow thread and your comments were promptly deleted by the mods.

To be fair it's difficult at times to tell what people really mean by comments made on a forum when not face-to-face. Several times on this forum I've seen sarcastic remarks escalate into full blown abusive battles and it's not pleasant. We all enjoy a good laugh but best we respect the fact that we are all, for most of us, just strangers here with a common interest.
Cheers...

So which Canadian aircraft do you have?

I have the Golden Hawks Sabre and the CF-104D.

Hobby Master's Sabre is a great little model - cnq123 certainly needs to add one or two.

About what you said about dual cockpits marring the sleek lines of these planes, whilst I agree, there's something about these small trainer variants that I find especially cool. Hence why my only F-104 models are the Puerto Rican ANG 'D' and the CF-104D, and why my only F-5 model is the Sundowners 'F'.

Dan
With all due respect I think I know a little bit more about the Aussie sense of humour than you do, based on some passing contact with other military personnel in a military setting.

You know, being as I'm Australian and all...

At my work we have had several foreign workers who when they started were confounded by our "robust" sense of humour and ribbing of each other; however, over time they came to realise that there was no harm meant and that the piss-taking was a signal of acceptance... If the Aussies you have met didn't joke around with you there are two possibilities: 1) they were respecting military protocol, or 2) they didn't actually like you very much.

Like everyone else. I genuinely am sorry to anyone else I've offended, but if I have managed to deflate your overweening sense of self-importance even a tiny amount then TBH I am actually pleased to have done so. However, I realise that may be a bridge too far so I'm not overly optimistic...

Spooky's comment is very pertinent and something else I would like to emphasise - plain text (even with emoticons) is not conducive to conveying tone whatsoever and so what would come across with a smile IRL can appear very mean-spirited in stark black and white.

I had thought we all came here to share our thoughts on a HOBBY, something which is supposed to be FUN. If there is no room for fun then I will take that into consideration when commenting and be sure to remember that.

To everyone else and the rest of the Canadian contingent please accept my sincere apology and don't feel I meant any offence. As I said before, I shall restrain myself from making any comments about Canada that are not 100% complimentary.

It's all in the "delivery"... Well intentioned communications can be misunderstood at the best of times. We Canadians thank you for your volumes of reasoning but would prefer "110%" complimentary comments. "Canadian Humour".

It's interesting for me to rethink my issues with two-seat fighter a/c, based solely on esthetics, since I do have several Spooks that are duel-seat and my two Canadian Voodoos are duel-seat as well. I have the CF-18 "No Fly Zone" but did not get the two-seat trainer CF-18. Also in my Canadian Collection are the three RCAF Sabres (aka Swords), two single-seat CF-104 Starfighters and my two beautiful Avro Arrows RL201 and RL203. Anxiously awaiting RL204. Btw, I like the F-5 as well and wish HM would release a Canadian CF-5 version.
Cheers...

I had thought we all came here to share our thoughts on a HOBBY, something which is supposed to be FUN. If there is no room for fun then I will take that into consideration when commenting and be sure to remember that Dan doesn't like any jokes any more than he likes any criticism of HM's products and that both are thus VERBOTEN (unless I want the crybully running off to the mods for a whinge...)

To everyone else - Spooky, Roydair, cnq, Zendocon, YOWGuy and the rest of the Canadian contingent please accept my sincere apology and don't feel I meant any offence. As I said before, I shall restrain myself from making any comments about Canada that are not 100% complimentary.
There's the attitude again. It's a strange mix of being patronizing while knocking everybody down at the same time. Your heart may be in the right place, but you come across as judgemental and condescending. It feels as though you think Australians are better than everyone else. I appreciate your apology, but you couldn't deliver it without shooting another forum member down. You're insulting the military of another nation and then upset when someone who has served in that military took offence?? I would never dream of mocking another nation's military - especially those who serve. It's an honour to serve your nation and respect comes with the job.

You may wish to dial it back here a little. Your sense of humour is not at all like the British. I don't believe it to be typically Australian either. A little ribbing is fine, but you're taking shots at the whole nation. Canada is a very proud nation. We're all happy enough to joke about ourselves, but there was nothing funny about what you had said. It was simply a put-down towards Canada in a room full of strangers. Sometimes some people are just unaware that they have crossed a line. There is no need to criticize other nations in here. I find that incredibly rude.

For anyone new to the hobby, who would like to start off with a beautiful 1/72 scale fighter a/c, I highly recommend Hobby Master's HA4303. It's the RCAF "Golden Hawks" Sabre (aka Sword) and it's still easily found at a very reasonable price. Corgi released a "Golden Hawks" Sabre years ago but the HM version is far more accurate (paint and detail perfect). I believe Dan had a hand in helping HM with some of the finer details on this 1960 RCAF Aerobatic Team fighter. I've attached a few photos, including one in Dan's DAC Forum Review, an inflight photo of the "Golden Hawks" Team, and, of course, a photo of my little beauty...

Good pics of the Golden Hawks. I'm going to get it this year when fund is available. In the mean time I have the Banshee and F5 in the pipe line.

I've just ordered these 2 items from my favorite hobby store.
He said they are the last ones in his stock

HA1060 - HM CF-104D Starfighter "104651," Canadian Armed Forces
HA4309 - HM Canadair Sabre Mk.6 "23679/AX-679," 421st Squadron, RCAF, France 1957

Think you'll be happy with these two choices - both, 1060 "2 Seat Starfighter" and 4309 "Red Indians Sabre", are exceptional HM production releases...

Nice cnq123 !

I was relieved to find the same 104D Straighter this week. I've yet to add a Sabre to my collection but I think a Sabre will like be my next purchase (unless I happen to find an HA1011 104 Starfighter before). I'm not holding my breath though.
