Generally speaking, this looks quite good----certainly a big improvement over the old CDC Armour version. I understand that some changes may be planned regarding the pilot's art work, which is fine if it happens. The spinner has been discussed and is probably OK without the sharper point we are accustomed to. I am disappointed by the decision to paint the landing lights, rather than doing them in a more realistic, indented, fashion. Also, the gunsight is way too tall and should be cut down to the right size. Still, if the colors stay the way they are depicted in this picture, I'm in.

Def. getting the 242 SQN Hurricane. I hope they do a Nightfighter, SEAC. and Sea Hurricane version down the road.

It appears from pictures and research provided on the DAF forum, that the tooling for this Hurricane actually represents a MK II, which has a somewhat longer nose than the MK I. This is a fairly small difference but it is noticeable on a model of this scale. While many may not be bothered---or care---- about this discrepancy", which I have no problem with, I will wait on a MK II scheme before I buy one.

It has also been pointed out on another forum, by someone that should be in the know, that there is provision for a long and a short nose for the HM Hurricane and this adjustment may be utilized for future MK I models. Also, the wings can be modified for 8- and 12-gun armament as well as the MK IIC, which has four cannons.

The introduction of the Merlin XX engine for the Mk. II added 7 inches to the length (all ahead of the firewall).

I believe that the so called "experts" are confusing late model Mk.Is with early model Mk.Is.

The difference between a late model Mk.1 and a Mk.II is really negligible in that area. In any event any difference in length would be about two millimetres on the model.

Looking a lot better IMPO than the pre-pro photographs.

It comes as a bit of a kit, the aerial needs to be placed in the top and HobbyMaster have thoughtfully provided two aerials, some inverted flying at Baldock Intenational failed to shake it loose but if we had been outdoors no doubt we would have been one aerial down.

Undercarriage up and down (and I'll redo the photo for the LE-D bits as one door should be black.. d'oh!)

The bit where I get lost is the canopy.. there's a full one and there's one in two pieces. The one in bits all you can do is place it in the shut mode. The canopy is too tight to go over the fuse and the pegs line up with it being closed ... so am scratching my head here..

I didn't use the HM stand but a wooden dowel supplied with a pair of Mrs Agents shoes sufficed.

The colours are way better than the pre-pros - Short noses or long noses it looks like a Hurricane to me...

In order of play

HA 8601 Sgt J Frantisek 303 Squadron

HA 8602 Flying Officer Willie McKnight 242 Squadron
