Default Start Of My Collection

Hello everyone, I just started collecting diecast aircraft and this is my first model. I will post up more when i have a few more arrive next week! I have really been enjoying checking out the forums and look forward to getting to know the community better.

Also I'm no photographer and have an old digital camera so excuse the poor quality pictures!

Thanks Everyone

Hobby Master 1:72 Air Power Series HA2806, F-22 Raptor, USAF 154th FW, 199th TFS The Kukaimoku, #03-4045, Hickam AFB, HI, July 2010

Thanks for the welcome, as well as the information and pointers. It is much appreciated. The F-22 has always fascinated me, actually it is what made me finally dive into the diecast airplane hobby. I saw an F-22 at an airshow a few weeks ago and it BLEW MY MIND with its awesomeness lol. After that I knew I had to have a model one. So far i am really interested in the 1/72nd scale, there big enough that you can really get into the high level of detail.

My second model just arrived today! This one really caught my eye due to its bright orange coloring, as well as the NMC markings on the tail. . . . don't know what those are actually called, if anyone could enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated.

That is one orange mofo. Mr MaGoo could hit that one with a sidewinder at angels 30 !!!

I don't have any Corgi Phantoms... the HM ones have me spoiled. I do like how they blackened the inside of the intakes. I wish HM would do that with their F-100s.

I literally laughed out loud when i read that lol. It is super bright orange, that is for sure. The HM phantoms look really top quality from the pictures I have seen, I will definitely be investing in one in the not so distant future.

That orange F-4 is a target drone. They're remotely piloted, that's why the canopy is blacked out. Biggest RC toys in the world! Welcome to collecting and DAC. Your next model should be an HM F-101 Voodoo, I highly recommend it!

Thank you for the welcome. Talk about a serious R/C toy, I can imagine that would be seriously tricky to fly . Just looked at the HM F-101 Voodoo, WOW it is def on my list now! Thanks for the recommendation.

Hello and welcome. That Phantom drone is pretty interesting. I don't have a Corgi F-4, only Hobby Master but I would consider this one just for something unique.

Are you referring to the initials NMC? If so that is the "Naval Missile Center" at NAS Point Mugu, Ventura County, CA. Apologies if I'm misinterpreting your question.

I do like orange, it is such a unique color to see on an aircraft. I see you have that particular aircraft as your avatar. What a cool model that would be, i have done a little searching for it but haven't found it yet, however i will keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the awesome suggestion!

Thanks for the welcome, I really have been looking hard at the HM Phantoms, they look ultra detailed and second to none. Thanks for the reply on the question as well, i knew what the NMC stood for i have just been trying to figure out if there is a specific name for tail art on any aircraft, or if its just called tail art lol. Thanks again!

It's usually called tail flash.

If you like orange and great-looking aircraft, they still have the F-102 Delta Dagger, 21st CW, Alaskan Air Command available at Aiken's Airplanes Die-Cast Model Airplanes and Desktop Model Aircraft.

Yeah I thought I might have misunderstood, just making sure lol. I agree with gospodin, tail flash or fin flash are the terms generally used. Man that CW SR-71 is a stunning piece of diecast, can't wait to get hold of one myself.

Nice Sr-71 2.0 !!! It's an amazing model. Every 1/72 collector needs at least one version. CW did a great job with that mold, despite the random QC issues.

I agree with gospodin... the HM Century Series fighters are amazing. The AK and Iceland F-102 versions are my favorites, even though I have neither. I have the MT ANG F-106 on the way, and that will give me at least one of each (F-100, F101, F102, F-104, F-105, F-106, F-111) Still waiting on a quality F-117.

Keep an eye out for a HM F/A-18 as well. You won't be disappointed. They are often on sale, and all are great IMO.

Tail flash, got it! Thank you for the info, I am definitely liking the F-102 it is a great looking aircraft I will for sure keep it in mind for the future.

Still, I appreciate you trying to answer my question I just didn't ask it in a clear enough way. It is a really nice model I am overwhelmingly impressed by it, I don't know much about this hobby yet, but I would have to say the cw SR-71 was definitely worth the money!

Thanks for your help and reply!

Thank you Skinner! I absolutely agree with you there, it is an amazing model, I am still in awe every time I look at it. I hope to pick another version up eventually, after I diversify my collection a bit. So far from what I have looked at, after gospodin let me know about them, the HM F-102's look really great. I hope you post pics up of your MT ANG F-106 when you get it. I haven't seen a HM F/A-18 yet but I will be keeping an eye out for sure. I am also looking forward to a good F-117.

Oh and just to let you know your collection is awesome, your thread definitely helped inspire me to start collecting.

I do like this Mig-29 however I cannot get the canopy to close straight (as you can see in the pictures). Any suggestions on how i might do this?

That Hornet has one unique livery. Seems a little dark to be practical though. I know that wasn't the intent. I like schemes like this that "break the mold".

Those HM MiG 15s are top quality and affordable. I have one displayed with an Easy Model F-86. I actually like the EM Sabre better than the Corgi releases. The paint just seems to replicate the BMF better.

Temarek, thank you for sharing those amazing pictures of the real Hornet! It is a stunning aircraft in the pictures, I am sure it was mind blowing in person, it might be my favorite livery.

It is incredibly unique, when i saw that one I had to order it right then lol. The pictures of the real aircraft are really incredible. I hope i get the opportunity to see one some day.

I am very impressed with the HM MiG-15 I can see myself getting another one at some point in the future. I haven't seen an EM Sabre but i will keep an eye out. I am actually not familiar with the EM brand at all. I will have to check them out.

Yup. Big difference. There is also a big difference between the glossy HM Evaluators one you have and the regular South East Asia camo, the standard Navy/Marine, and the other liveries. The flatter paint schemes lend better definition to the panel lines and other details. I've been waiting, hoping to get that version on sale, but it has so far eluded me.
