Re: How long will we have to wait for a HM CF-116/CF-5?
I know they've only done a single seat version of the F-5 so far but I figure it's only a matter of time before they decide they have to be the first company to release a Thunderbirds T-38 Talon:
That should open up CF-5D options

The F-5A/B etc needs quite a different kind of tooling compared to the F-5E/F, but it would make a nice addition. Just in Holland we had them in 4 different liveries (apart from special schemes), then there was Norway, Greece, Turkey still has them in active duty, the middle east, Latin America (especially Venezuelans were nice), Asia, sweet jet.

I would like to see this model also. Two of my favorite liveries.

This one sitting on the ramp CFB Portage La Praire 1987.

Oh, for sure. It would actually be an F-5A/D for Canadian versions. There would be some differences from a CF-5A compared to a US F-5A too. The engines were different (Orenda versions of the GE J-85-15), there were refueling probes on the CF-5A, there was a 2-position front landing gear to give it more lift on take-off... but that's all stuff that would likely be done in plastic anyway.
Obviously, the Talon is a bit different too, but it's subtle tooling (leading wing edge, for example).
The CF-5A and CF-5D are two of the only post-war Canadian fighters that have not yet been released in diecast by one company or another. The CF-100 Canuck and De Havilland DH-100 Vampire are the only other two RCAF jet fighters, although it would be nice to see a proper Sabre (Corgi got it a bit wrong, although it still looks great in my collection). Also, the Navy used the F2H Banshee from '55-62. We're so close!!

Me too. From Bluenose squadron, please. I also love the silver Cold Lake CF-5D from my original post.

Yes, a Bluenose (434 Squadron) CF-5 is a must!

Yes! That's a beauty. Good armament selection too.

Most work will have to go into completely reworking the spine and tail. That's be quite some work I guess. But here's hoping!

Well if they are going to do T-38's, they HAVE to do these:
Technically Canadian as well since several Canadians trained for flight in them .

NASA has always felt more international than strictly American to me. Their business is the stuff of dreams and everyone can get behind that.

I visited a few years ago and saw work being performed on the ISS modules. NASA truly is an international effort with many countries contributing research, personnel, and funding. It's amazing what can be accomplished with cooperation. I'm very proud of CERN, the Lake Vostok project, and the 3 Gorges Dam even though I'm thousands of miles away.
Nationalism is over-rated IMO. Not to be confused with patriotism. I'm proud to be part of this era of true international cooperation.

Re: How long will we have to wait for a HM CF-116/CF-5?
Im totally down for the CF-116/CF-5. I would pre-order right now. In fact I would probably buy one of each livery. Maybe we should do a poll or collectively send emails to HM. Definitely would be a money maker for HM.

Re: How long will we have to wait for a HM CF-116/CF-5?
I sent out an email to HM, early last year (2012), in regards to the possibility of them retooling their F-5 line to do A/D models, however, there were no set plans to do so, at the time. They did seem to express interest on the idea, so it could be a possibility.

Canadair of Canada built the the licensed version of the Northrop F-5 Freedom fighter with several modifications such as a two position nose landing gear which reduced take off distance by 20%, a mid air refueling probe, a more sophisticated navigation system, interchangeable nose with a specially designed reconnaissance set with four cameras, and more powerful engines, the Orenda built GE J85-15. Several upgrades were done over its service life with the Canadian Air Force. In service from 1968 till 1995.
RCAF
89 CF-116A built new
49 CF-116D built new(2 seater)
Netherlands
75 NF-5A built new
30 NF-5B built new
Botswana
10 ex-Canadian CF-116A
3 ex-Canadian CF-116D
Venezuela
13 ex-Canadian CF-116A and D
13 ex-Netherlands NF-5A and B
Turkey
31 ex-Netherlands NF-5A
16 ex Netherlands NF-5B
Greece
Was to buy 28 stored CF-116A+D from Canada in 2001. The deal fell through and Canada eventually scraped them. Perfectly good aircraft in storage worth 200 million.
So there would be quite a few liveries HM could produce of the F-5A
