Absolutely finished. Some of the last available releases are now available at very low cost.

Re: Gemini jets 250th scale ?
My Alitalia MD82 is one of my favourite models because of the retracting wheels and, well, it is an unusual scale now.

Re: Gemini jets 250th scale ?
Looking at the moulds they've done, it seems as if they didn't know in which direction to go with this line - DC-8s, MD-80s, B737-800 and DC-3s..

Re: Gemini jets 250th scale ?
Those things are practically being given away.
You guys like the detail and features? Maybe I'll get one. I'm normally strictly 1:400, because of storage space limitations.

I received my Eastern DC-8-61 yesterday and i am really impressed with the build quality and the fabulous polished finish on the wings & belly... it even came with a bag full of spare tires. much better QC than recent GJs 1/400s. the old database photos here do not represent this livery very well at all, colors are much better in person. but this model is going to be the "oddball" in my display cabinet as it is the only 1/250 i have and most likely the only one due to limited releases.
I would really like to see a decent early DC-8 & a CV880 mould made in 1/200, but i am starting to doubt it will ever happen....

Re: Gemini jets 250th scale ?
Hello Fellow Collectors,
I'm relatively new to the forum and enjoy it emencely, the connection with fellow collectors such as yourself and the tools and database make maintaining my collection a breeze esp. with the data points on market values and trends within our hobby.
I recently completed my collection of the entire GJ 1/250 scale production run, a total of 36 aircraft. The AA MD-82 took me five long years to track down. Equally difficult was the DAL DC-8-62 as it was the first produced. I'm torn though to know if the CP DC-3 released by Phoenix was produced in GJ's mould, making just collectible IMHO. The DAC database shows it being produced by GJ, can anyone confirm?
My favorite GJ series by far! Sorry to see them get discontinued
Kevin

Re: Gemini jets 250th scale ?
I have the Ryanair B737-800 in Dreamliner scheme because I flew on the actual aircraft, not a brilliant model but I like it. Bit of a strange scale really, not surprised that it didn't appeal to the majority.

Re: Gemini jets 250th scale ?
Yes, the 1/250 scale was a gamble by Gemini; testing the market if another scale could be supported by the diecast collectors? As you can see, it didn't quite take-off with the public, but I thought the models were kinda cool with the retractable landing gear.
Hogan and Phoenix also tried the 1/300 scale, but only so many 1/300 models were produced. The 1/500, 1/400 and 1/200 seem to be the scales that the majority of collectors wanted to focus on. Yes, there is the 1/100 scale; but you need a lot of room to display these huge birds; along with some serious dough! Cheers! T7

Re: Gemini jets 250th scale ?
Thanks T7!
I kinda viewed it as a challenge to collect them all and eventually complete the entire run with the series being discontinued. The thrill of the chase and all, if you know what I mean...........hehehe!
The only down side IMHO on the GJ 250's is the nose landing gear door on the MD-80's and 737's, but hey what can ya do, it's a model? As much as I wish these models (all scales actually) could be more technically correct, such as deployable L.E. & T.E. flaps & slats on say 1/200 74's or T7's, which is possible and would only drive up manufacturing/retail costs, they are what they are, just models.
Now that my GJ 1/250's saga is complete, onto my next quest, focusing on my SMA/Aeroclassics product line while still keeping up on all of the mfgr's new releases which is a chore in and of itself!
Regards,
Kevin
