Default Request from a collector - Manufactuer Websites

Over the years, I have found Gemini, Inflight200, and HobbyMaster's(although I don't collect a lot of those) websites very helpful in collecting diecast airliners. The key ingredients, in my opinion, is a dedicated page to your products, a new release section, and a database logging all of the past releases. In addition, pictures are better than drawings, but something is better than nothing.

Monthly, I always anticipate the releases of all of the major manufactuers; Gemini, Inflight200, Jet-X, JC Wings, and Aviation200 are the five main manufactuers I collect. Thanks in large part to their website and forum participation, Gemini's new releases are always a monthly spectacular for collectors.

I'd like to request that JC Wings and Aviation 200 create (and jet-x update theirs) websites to the level of what Gemini or Inflight has. It would be greatly apprecited by this collector.

JC Wings and Aviation 200 will never have websites as they will put them out of existence.

There's a huge difference between 'manufacturers' and 'brand names'. Truth is that most of the people behind brand names dont have the desire to connect with those who buy their products.

Apparently you can communicate with Mr. JC Wings here:

I guess more than anything it would be nice to have a manufactuer made database of their products and what's going to be coming out.

Seems like with Gemini, I know exactly what to expect or what they have made. Inflight is a step behind, because a lot of times its just a drawing, and I have no idea what its going to look like or when its coming. With the others its a total mystery, posted by a random person here or it just shows up on retailers websites. I don't understand why any company or brand that sells any product would not want to get the word out there about their products as much as possible.

Don't get me wrong, with any resourcefulness I can look the database here for past releases and scour the forums or retailers for what's coming out. I'm just saying it would be nice or companies like Aviation 200 or Jet-X, two brands that have been releasing some really great products to present it a little better.

Practice patience, and get subscribed to the news letters from your favorite sellers. They'll tell you when it's in stock and provide you a picture as well.

There is little point to keeping websites updated anymore.

For starters, the community is small enough already that the forums and retailers do an admirable job already.

Second with DAC having a database of releases it again negates the need to maintain a separate website.

It only makes sense if a company wants or needs a corporate presence but in this specific instance, for Jet-X the site will simplify or even go away in the near future

I wouldn't go as far as to say that there is little point to keeping websites updated anymore. For manufacturers who WISH to build community/affinity to their products, this works very well. As noted, the prolific brands do it and they do it pretty well -- albeit a bit 'cookie cutter' at times. The catch is, as Mr. Firefly points out, these manufacturers that the OP has named don't want that connection for any number of reasons.

That said, there is NOTHING stopping anyone from using the DA.C database and just entering in 'Brand' and 'Scale'. You should get just about everything produced. Not perfect, but better than nothing.

We have scheduled a lot of projects coming up in 2013, including (re)launching the website. But, honestly, maybe its not a top priority one. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion that at least we know there are someone have similar idea like us.

How about scheduling a QC overhaul and a class in business ethics.

Using your customer's tooling to compete with them is about as sleazy as it gets.

GJ has trademarked "As real as it gets"; why don't you guys trademark "As sleazy as it gets"?

You know, instead of badgering JC Willy (which doesn't seem to be working), why don't you sue him for the things you're accusing him of? Oh, wait, you can't, because you're in the Worker's Paradise of China, that wonderful place you think so highly of but has a government so corrupt it makes the US look like utopia. A society of the ultimate capitalists disguised as communists, where making a buck takes priority over any ethics...but you would know that, living there. So what's the problem?
