Default New Profile Work (Delta 727 and Canadian 737)

It's been a while since I've gotten around to posting new profiles here. Most of that has to do with just not having the free time due to school, but I was also spending A LOT of time setting up a completely new printing method and developing modified layouts for my prints.

So, the first of my new batch of completed profiles is this Delta 727-247 Advanced in the 2000 "wavy gravy" colors. Registration is N282WA, which was the first of eight 727-200s to get sprayed with this livery (occurred sometime in late-August or early-September 2000). The profile depicts N282WA circa 2000, before Delta started applying the SkyTeam stickers to the forward fuselage. I've always had a soft spot for the wavy gravy 727s, and I was lucky enough to ride on six of the eight before the type was retired.

For anyone who might be interested in a print of this profile, I've upgraded my prints on to Fujicolor Professional Paper, utilizing ZBE Chromira printers at 300 DPI. The color and print quality are much improved. Standard prints are still 11x17, however I can go up to about 36 inches in width for most of my profiles.

Standard print layout displays the left side of the aircraft with gear up, but I can do any combination of left or right side with gear up or down. Just let me know what you're interested in.

Below is a Canadian 737-200 in the airline's final "Proud Wings" livery. This profile depicts C-GCPM, a 737-217 Advanced, circa 1999. I've always thought that this was a cool livery. It's unfortunate that it didn't last longer.

Great Work once again, Andy. I really like the Canadi>n 737, it's beautiful. I love the Canada Goose Scheme, I think you nailed it.

Thanks! I appreciate the compliments! I would like to do a Canadian old colors 732, but who knows when I'll have the time to get around to that...lol.

Brilliant work Andy! The detail on the engine and wings, particularly on the 737 look ALMOST photographic ... very well done!

I'd rank you and Nick Webb at the top of the list in doing these types of renderings, except that he has a much larger portfolio at the moment ... that dude is a machine I think!

Thanks, Bert! I should start archiving some of these comments in case I ever get to the point where I can set up a dedicated website!

Who is Nick Webb? That's the first time I've heard that name, but I'm very curious to see some examples of his work. Up to now, I had only really been aware of Rolando Ugolini (he did the Delta lineup in Sky Magazine) and Nick Knapp as the guys that are super well known for doing high-quality airliner profile art. Actually, seeing prints of their work is what helped me figure out how best to upgrade my own prints to get the best quality possible. My stuff is in line with theirs now

But yeah, guys like Rolando who have tons of different aircraft types and liveries in their portfolios must work on this stuff full time. I just don't see how else it would be possible to build things up that much! I'm only now getting around to finishing up my CRJ-700, which will eventually be modified into a CRJ-900 too. Other than that, I still just have the 727-200, 737-200 and -200 Advanced, and CRJ-100/200. I'm thinking of hitting the A320 series before too long to give me a more contemporary mainline type, but it seems like plans are always changing with me, so who knows what I'll actually end up doing next...lol.
