Default My Day at an FBO

Hey everybody! So tomorrow (Wed November 3) I get to spend the day at Southern Aero Aviation FBO at CYQL (Lethbridge County Airport). This is part of the Canada wide "take your kid to work day" program. I will post more information tomorrow after I get back. Wish me luck! Southern Aero is a Esso Aviation Fixed Base Operator, providing fueling, ground support, hangar parking, and other services to pilots. They are located next to the Integra Air hangar near the terminal. I can't wait!

Been there a few times! My favorite Canadian FBO to date however is Shell Aero Centre in Saskatoon. Hottest two CSR's in the country.

I don't think a single week has gone by since I was 4 years old that I haven't been to an FBO somewhere! Started off hanging out w/ my uncle while he was working the line and building his time, then helping him with his one-man Lear Jet operation, then flying lessons, then working the line myself, and now a frequent user of FBO's all over North and Central America.

Have fun, that's where it all started for me!

Ok, so I just got back, so here's my report:
When I first arrived I was greeted by Chris, who showed me around the 3 hangars of Southern Aero. Southern Aero Aviation does all the ground handling for Integra Air, so one of the first things we did, (after hauling airplanes out of a hangar) was fuel up one of their Jetstream 31s for a charter to Fort. McMurray. We got it fueled up, and then returned to the main hangar, waiting for a special arrival. Whats so special? It was a Gulfstream G4 from Safeway, coming from Oakland, America. That certainly was exciting, and all the fancy things such as red carpet were in place. (I got to see the cockpit ) Speaking of cockpits, I also explored the Jetstream 31 cockpit while I was fueling. What a difference betweena Gulfstream's and a Jetstream's cockpit. We took care of a few more things, such as checking the fuel silos for fuel quality, fueling up more aircraft, and hauling around some other aircraft into hangars, etc. After a great day, it was time for me to go home, so I said my good'byes and thanks and went home, a grin on my face. Here are some photos of my day
-Integra Air Jetstream 31 cockpit

-Integra Jestream leaving with the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop

Wow! You got to work their operations. Can't beat that. I looked up Lethridge on google and found the area to be really beautiful. The terminal building itself is a clean design that definitely deserves a picture. Makes me want to fly to Canada and take the cross country rail trip. Maybe one day.

Yes, YQL is a pretty nice facility. The terminal is quite nice, I have used it a few times. However, it does need some upgrading/renovations, as it lacks simple things such as bathrooms post-security or some type of food store besides a single vending machine.
