Man ... that sucks!!! It does look like a "winter wonderland" though, and for that I am envious, as the weather out here in SAN is generally very "boring", except for the rain we got last week which ended our friggin' dry spell ... here are some sunset photos I took recently to give you an idea of how "boring" it is ... wish WE would get a little of your snow ...

All of our snow just finished melting away, and now it's snowing again
We didn't get as much as you did. That's a lot of snow!

Man wish I had that much snow here in Ottawa!!! Our winter has been seriously sucking so far. We got like 20cm back in november and ever since we've just been getting little dustings (less than 5 cm) every week or two and it's either been brutally cold or raining the rest of the time. WINTER SUCKS THIS YEAR IN OTTAWA!

We had cold weather for a few weeks over December and January. Areas of water started freezing over that wouldn't normally, and it took them quite a long time to melt - it wouldn't surprise me if there was still some ice left in places).
Being a Curler, I loved it and I went playing on the Lake of Menteith (the only lake in Scotland - they are Lochs). Would still LOVE some really cold weather (it snowed the other day, but it didn't last long), but I guess we have reverted back to our boring maritime climate again instead. Actually, it has been somewhat amusing (and worrying) listening to climate change conspiracy theorists - the first bit of cold weather we've had in ages, and they are all out banging their drums about it!! Being a Curler, I wouldn't mind if it got colder, but I think I'm in the minority there as we seem to be completely incapable of dealing with abnormal weather here in the UK - it's quite pathetic really.

So, THAT is where our snow went from last year! So far this winter we have received 6" in eastern WA vs. 93" last year (yeah that's 7.75 ft for those who are math challenged).
Good luck to our friends in the Northeast. |

That's An Average Day In Labrador.
Our Record However Was In 1987. The Annual Sowfall That Year Was 391/2 feet. Generally It's Around 18 Feet. I Remember For The Months Of February/March It Snowed Non Stop And Every Morning I'd Be Out In The Lot With The Snowblower Waist Deep. |

I had my fill of snow when I lived in Germany. One of the reasons I live in Louisiana now.

The funny thing for me living in Buffalo, you guys now have more snow this year then we do. This year has been pretty mild in WNY. What the Mid-Atlantic is getting now is a yearly occurance here. The difference is we have to invest in a lot of snow equipment which makes this not that big of a deal. The best thing to do is stock up on beer, have a few good movies handy, and drive sloooooow! It sounds like common sense but every year when the first snow falls, I swear people forget what it's like to drive in snow. I guarantee 9 months from now you guys are going to see a spike in births too. It never fails.
