Apparently, everyone hates Detroit

TripAdvisor.com conducted a survey of 3,400 Americans, asking them their opinions about various cities. The result may or may not surprise you: Everyone loves New York and everyone hates Detroit (above), which was not only listed as the "Least Favorite," but also the "Least Healthy" and "Dirtiest."

Second and third place for least favorite city? Los Angeles and Atlanta. Why's everybody hating on Atlanta? They did win for "Nicest Sounding Accent."

San Francisco was the second favorite, and Boston and Chicago tied for third. Conversely, Boston also got "Most Annoying Accent." Clearly, these people have not been to my hometown of Minneapolis.

Other cities with mentions include Miami for "Sexiest" and Honolulu for "Most Romantic." Seattle got "Healthiest" and Washington D.C. got "Best Free Attractions." Cleveland got "Most Boring."

Ah, sweet paradox. I will forever argue that New Yorkers aren't mean, they're just fast. Almost everyone in New York will be happy to help you if you bottom-line your question.

I think people hate Atlanta because of the traffic. Other than that, it's a good place to live.

Not just traffic, but pollution. Atlanta is bad for smog.

When I lived there, every morning I would listen to the radio for the current "smog index." But I'm sure it was nothing like Newark.

Well living in NYC I will say that it is fast and down to the point. Just get on with it basically. As for most boring, lamest, stupid, all bad things associated with a city its El Paso, Texas hands down. Lived there and it sucks!!!!!!!!!!! The only plus it has are the sunsets, THATS IT!!!!!!!!!!

Miami the "sexiest"?, having lived there most of my life from 1960-2001, let me take you on a personal tour and see if you would agree to that. Sure , if a tourist straight from MIA hits the x-way to south bch, w/o going anywhere else, you might get that impression.

I miss fast paced life. I feel like people in Knoxville are planning to live until 150 (This is a great place to grow up but it's not a good place to have a career). It's almost over, though...going to NYC for four months in January and then back to ATL.
