Unhappy Woman Who Misses AF 447 Dies in Car Accident

Tragedy follows tragedy:

By Xana O'Neill

A woman who dodged death when she and her husband narrowly missed Air France Flight 447 before it plunged into the Atlantic Ocean, killing all 228 aboard, was killed in a car accident just over a week later.

Johanna Ganthaler, a retiree from the Bolzano-Bozen province, was on vacation in Brazil with her husband Kurt when the pair miraculously missed the doomed flight to Paris. But their luck ran out on an Austrian road earlier this week when their car swerved into the path of an oncoming truck outside the town of Kufstein, the Times (U.K.) reported.

Kurt Ganthaler was badly hurt in the accident.

Flight 447 disappeared from radar shortly after leaving Rio de Janeiro and is believed to have broken apart shortly after it left the airport in Brazil on May 31 with 228 people on board.

Some three dozen bodies have been fished out of the ocean where the Airbus jet plunged into the water.

A nuclear-powered French submarine has begun scouring the seafloor for any sign of the black box, which could hold the key to determining what felled the plane.

The Ganthalers flew out of the country on a flight the day after the jet went missing.

I'm sure you've seen "Final Destination". She was supposed to be on that plane, so Death had to go find her. Life imitating art.

Is Final Destination a regular release film? Or made-for-TV? Never heard of it.

It's one of those cheesy horror movies where the writers find inventive and gory ways for people to die. There are three films in the "Final Destination" series. They all have pretty much the same plot: Several people miss out being killed in a horrific accident, so Death targets them one by one since they were actually supposed to die. I didn't really mean to trivialize Mrs. Gunthaler's death, but the parallel was just so obvious. Hopefully her husband will recover.

Thanks, Steve, just looked up the film on netflix. After reading the storyline, I figured it wasn't for me.

I too, hope her husband fully recovers.

The movies were pretty stupid, but very inventive. I watched them because my daughters rented them, and I was too lazy to find something else to do. And I like Tony Todd, who was in all of them.

My first thought was also "Final Destination".

How ironic. Do hope her husband makes it through. A truly rough week for their family.
