I need to aquire an around town car...It will supplement the crownvic and the Mercedes E500...Ive narrowed it down to these 4 choices....
09 Mercedes Benz C 330
09 Hyundai Genesis V-8
09 Acura TL with luxury package
09 Nissan Maxima with luxury package
I know there are hundreds of choices and none of these would be most DACers first choice but Im gonna share it with my wife and daughter....we need 4 doors.... Right now the Genesis is the one I am favoring....

So what happened to the Lambo, Russ? I'd say unless you're really partial to MB, the Acura might be your best bet. Nice, fun cars to drive, still have the touch of luxury you might be looking for.

I´d for the Mercedes for sure!! but, why not a BMW 3 series??
because BMW is not cutting any deals! the others are.....Also I have a friend who owns an MB/Hyundai franchise and he is giving me a really good offer..
Acura has the best lease out there going..

The Lambo doesnt count.....I just got rid of my 06 TL just before I got the MB 500 and absolutely loved it....

I am not able to vote. But my choice would be...the Mercedes.

While nothing beats the F430 as my weekend fun car, my everyday run around car is an Acura RDX, which is a great car. So I picked the Acura TL as the car you should get.
Hey crownvic ... I realize you have your four choices there, but just in case you might have overlooked one veryexcellent consideration, it is the sleek and functional Mazda CX-9, which won the coveted "Motor Trend SUV of the Year" award last year AND the "North American Truck of the Year" award at the North American (Detroit) Auto Show, as well as many other journalist awards for vehicles.
Not to mention it has four doors in a very stylish package. And I KNOW you can get a GREAT deal on them because the local Mazda dealership is offering them for $8K off sticker!
I agree that is a great SUV we have 2 CX-9's in the family already (in-laws) I dont want an SUV though!

[QUOTE=Parminder27;686350]Nobody will buy American anymore???
I have the Crown Victoria, my wife drives a Chrysler Pacifica which has been an absolute service nightmare as it is self destructing all by itself....

Where I'm from, men don't drive cars, we drive trucks **spits chaw**. But since the biggest hills in Orlando are all in the theme parks, I say go with the Hyundai. Better warranty, less of a target for criminals, probably cheaper than the rest, great luxury for the price.

Gotcha! Well, in that case, I would go with either the Hyundai Genesis or the C-class since you have the 'connection' at the dealership ... probably in that order since you already have a Mercedes in your household. As Dylan said, you CAN'T beat the Hyundai warranty!
I think highly (so far) of the Genesis, but if the price of the Benz is within a few thou of the Hyundai, my vote is for the C330.
I too am looking for a different summer car (my '82 911 is for sale!), but since my pocketbook isnt as deep as Russ's, I am eye-balling the '08 Volvo S60 which are being given away....anyone know why?
I love the looks of all the newer Mercedes, but since 2000 they have been badly plagued by electrical and transmission problems. My mechanic (works on the 911) has been a certified MB mechanic for 25 years and told me point-blank to not buy any MB from 2000-2007. Too soon to know if the '08s are as bad though.

I have heard the same thing, which is why, as much as I'd like to have a pre-owned CLK500, I will not buy one.
My 07 MB has not been in the shop once for any problems...100% reliable with 19k miles so far!
Randy as for the Genesis coupe I need four doors for the long haul just like your favorite needs 4 engines for the long haul!!

Here's one more for ya ... how 'bout the new Toyota Venza?
Can't go wrong with Toyota reliability, and it comes in both V-6 and 4-banger modes ... it's not really an SUV either ... although it's termed a "crossover" I'd call it a 'sportwagon' ... and it gets decent gas mileage and looks sharp to boot!
Personally, I'd buy one of these before I'd buy a Hyundai (as nice as the Genesis may be), because you know you'll eat it in terms of re-sale value, but with Toyotas, they're excellent in terms of holding their values as compared to most other makes of vehicles.
Just one more for the mix ...
PS: One minor thought regarding the Genesis ... styling-wise it takes a page out of the Acura RL sketchbook, but the thing that slightly bothers me is the fact that it does not have a hood emblem of any sort. I realize WHY they did it, but to me, there's something 'missing' there ... I think a company should be PROUD to put their logo's icon there, as opposed to otherwise. It's as if someone 'stole' it or something ... it just doesn't make me feel 'proud' to own a car which I can't be proud of showing off if that makes any sense. I mean, if I'm driving a Mazda or Mercedes, I WANT the emblem there so I can display my pride in ownership. Sorry to get so long-winded ...

Thats funny, No problems reported on a $50k plus automobile with ONLY 19k miles, geez i can say the same for the 06 suzuki grand vitara i purchased for my wife, No i didnt want this car , but she fell in love with it
Mercedes and BMW , IMO make some gorgeous cars but unless you plan to lease it for a few years, i wouldnt buy one for the long run. I used to do warranty work for dealers when i lived in miami, It amazed me at how low mileage mercedes engines had on them before they needed valve jobs, like 20K!
My mothers BMW Z3 was eating a major hole in her retirement savings until she finally traded it in with only 40K on the odometer on a lincoln.
If you are leasing , go for the mercedes, if in for a long run i would get the nissan but seriously it all boils down to whats really in your tastes.
Love the Venza...Saw it at the car show earlier this year..
As for new cars I only lease cause I need a new one every 3 years.

The LaCrosse is pretty classy, and Buicks do get great ratings from their owners and JD Powers. I would much rather have the LaCrosse than the current Cadillacs.
Ideally I would have a minimum of 3 vehicles (hauling, sporty driving, comfortable/luxury driving) but their simply isnt enough room or money here for that!
So, let's all just live vicariously through CV when it comes to driving fancy wheels! .

Yup, Buick finally got its **** together on this car.
You got that right Randy ... I think it is a 'world class' product in the true sense of the phrase.
With Buick's consistently high marks on JD Power rankings, I'm sure this car will quite possibly fuel a resurgence in the 'new GM' ... it's just too bad they couldn't have come out with something like this a few years earlier!
japanese cars all the way. id be embarrassed to drive around an american car. id rather drive a honda civic DX coupe than drive that lacrosse! but alas, all personal preference. i love subarus but only cuz im an outdoorsy dude and the car fits my personality.
russ i think you might as well go for a decently flashy daily crusier like the TL (cheaper maintenance than the cedes too)! i think it fits your style!
btw 10 brownie points goes to the first one who can name the manufacturer of this model airplane in this subaru commerical hahaha
Uhhhh...the photos of that so-called 'LaCrosse' are actually the Invicta, which is going to replace the LaCrosse. Yes, they put the Lacrosse badges on it, but the car in the pictures isn't even made yet - it will be 2010 at the earliest. Go see an '09 LaCrosse at your local dealer and you will not see anything resembling those photos above.

Go try to find one for sale today. It is a 2010 model so maybe it will be available later this summer, but with the way things are at GM who really knows. My point was you can't buy one today, but I'm sure they will take a deposit! The part about it being an 'Invicta' was true not that long ago, so maybe they decided to not spend all the cash needed to change the name afterall.
Either way, no one here is buying one. Since we are throwing around links - below is another one about it (scroll down the page a bit). Funny thing is that they deleted the photo of the 'Invicta' that was on there not long ago.

Yeah, the 06 tribeca is the hottest thing to come out of tokyo since the datsun b210, id rather be seen in one of those than a vette ,crossfire, challenger or even a new stang
The american car companies have been making some fine automobiles lately, nothing against subaru they do make fine cars, but that was a ridiculous statement.....
I would love to have a classic 70 cougar eliminator 429cj in my driveway
ditto. But boy those are RARE musclecars. In fact, any Ford or Mercury with a 429CJ is super-rare. I havent seen lately how much Boss 429s are going for these days, but still a lot of coin.
Sorry Russ, your thread has been completely hijacked now.
