Look at what was in my backyard this morning!
This morning I woke up to see a mama deer with here fawn drinking from her mothers milk. A great sight. Look at the size of that deer tick on the mom's back!

Re: Look at what was in my backyard this morning!
That's a great photo! I don't think that is a tick on her back though...it would be a world record! you guys have hitchhiker plants up in NY? Maybe its a bud...
I was turkey hunting last spring in full camoflauge (turkey's have better eyes than humans) and a doe and her spotted fawn walked in on my spot. All mom could see was my eyes and the bridge of my nose through the camo...but after staring for a while, she decided I wasn't a threat! I got to see a scene just like that about ten yards in front of me. The fawn could barely walk. She made a helluva racket walking through the woods, while her mom glided silently through the bush. Neat stuff!
Looks like the doe in your photo is pretty young...she's still growing into her ears and tail. Probably was born last spring herself!
Thanks for the reminder - and great photo!

Re: Look at what was in my backyard this morning!
Wonderful photo, thanks for sharing. My former partner and I rented a house in Pebble Beach back in 2000. We had deer in the yard all the time and had to be very careful driving through the subdivision to avoid hitting them. We had to pay extra special attention when driving at night.

Re: Look at what was in my backyard this morning!
awesome, I have plenty of those in my backyard. I saw a deer once, 2 hounds, an anteater? Or maybe a shrew, lots of rabbits and squirls, but since then that population has gone down since a cat decided to call my backyard his home and killed a bunch of them. an eagle, and an owl, and other cats.
This is what happens when you don't have a bibi gun, all these animals starts showing up.

cool!!! (and cute =P) all you get to see at my backyard are birds lol but some months ago I saw Cunaguaro, it's like a tiny jaguar! you can only find it in South America... in english it's called Oncilla... Oncilla - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia it's very weird to see those animals!

Re: Look at what was in my backyard this morning!
all i see are stray dogs, cats, house lizards and pigeons... the house lizards are a frequent visitor in my room and can be often seen on the walls owing to the heat outside as it is summer here in India... the pigeons tend to make their nests very often in small places around my house... and the dogs and cats always seem to have a 'CONFERENCE' of sorts right outside my house... sometimes the dogs and cats are replaced by cows and buffalos as well...

Nice photo and beautiful way to start the day! Definitely NOT a deer tick but thanks for a really great and much needed laugh!
Seeing lots of babies lately - eg. birds (ducklings, goslings, etc.), deer, groundhogs, squirrels, etc.
