Default WOAH Air France in America?

My dad was on a flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Newark a couple of days ago and he claimed he flew on an Air France A319. I said no of course not but he showed me his ticket and it was indeed an Air France A319. I was astonished. This was supposed to be a Delta flight but he was on an Air France. Does anyone know why this happend? My guess is that Delta owned the aircraft and it was from Air France but its livery wasnt changed to Delta yet.

Air France operates a A320 to Hati, and other airports in the carribean. It flies from Miami to Haiti and then to Pointe A Pitre, Guadeloupe.
