Default Car depreciation

All of us who have owned a few cars know that depreciation is part of the deal, especially when you drive it off the lot with only 9 miles on the odometer.

If you do the math, having a car depreciate $1 a mile is quite rare. That would mean that if you paid $25,000 for your car (sticker price not including tax, etc), then it would be worth ZERO $ once it hit 25,000 miles. We all know that is ridiculous for a car in decent or better condition.

Below is a link to a TWO year old car in mint condition that has depreciated $70 A MILE! That is not a typo. That is 70 times (or 700%) higher the absurd amount of $1 a mile depreciation.

I am sure that there are know-it-alls here that will point out that the car isn't a Toyota Corolla, or whatever. That isnt the point though. The point is how much freakin' money that some ultra-rich people throw right down the toilet! FWIW, I think this is the highest I have ever seen.

Initial depreciation is expected on a big-ticket luxury car, but not with such low miles...that looks like a fire-sale! I have seen a Ferarri F-40 lose $100,000 in three years, but the owner raced the car, and it had some dings and nicks in the paint, plus having about 19,000km put on it (you have to take those things in pretty frequently for tune-ups, apparently). That Bentley is an ugly car, though...not my taste.

That's why I like picking up cars coming off a two-year lease...good condition, low miles, no mark up!

As for the Bentley...fugly ghetto superstar mobile. No thanks...

i would take the fugly ghetto mobile, we have a car in the uk called the cryshler 300c , everytime i see one of them i think its a bentley because they have a similar grill and rear end,

ok so the white one doesnt count its to pimped but its nice and probably $200.000 cheaper then the bentley,

300C - for the thugs that haven't gone platinum yet.

There's a dude around town who bought the Bentley conversion package - stripped all the Chrysler emblems and did it up "right." Kit car...lots of money to put into a frickin' Chrysler...

Aston is #1 on my 'fantasy' list SW, so you wont see me rolling in a Bentley in this lifetime. FWIW, there is a fire-sale going on right now with brand new 300Cs. The only color I would consider is the black one pictured, but overall, not so much my kind of ride either. If I could get a Pontiac G8 w/o the funky hood for under 25k, then I would seriously consider it.

Nick..
There is an outfit here in California that replaces the whole front end of the G8 with original OEM parts from the Holden Commodore that makes it look a million times better for around 3k give or take shipped from Australia.

On a side note, Sunday will be the best racing day of the year, both the Indy 500 and the Monaco GP. Sweet.

Definitely a nice look.

Ponden/Holtiac G8

But, this is the front end look that I would like to see.

I agree Moin, and they all look the same or similar. All slab-side designs, the only difference being front and rear styling.

I don't consider that a slab design - I was referring to cars that the majority of Americans (and Europeans, etc.) drive. That to me is an exotic, and they too, look very much alike.
