Default Most odd or embarrassing purchase??

As the title suggests, what is/was your oddest or most embarrassing purchase??

I'd say my 1:600 Schabak things with the most horrendously bad decals (only realised when they arrived), but, I was starting out just then, and was one of the very first things I got.

Today, I took delivery of a rather unusual model. That, in the shape of a ....... no, before I say, I need to mention that it's just meant to be a novelty item, and a bit of fun ....... I have just got myself, a B.A. Negus, inflatable, hot air balloon

Saw it quite by chance on ebay with about 3 mins to spare and bought it before I'd properly thought about it.

It's too big to sit with the rest of the display, due to it being about 2 feet high and the roof sloping in too soon, so it's currently hanging from one of the skylight handles.

Not entirely sure quite what to do with it in terms of where to put it!

Anyway, have you any slightly strange or embarrassing models??

Yeah, the balloon is something that I'd probably eventually give to someone.

It's here for the moment though!

Oddest purchase has to be my 1:250 scale Ryanair B737-800 in Dreamliner colours. It's the only 1:250 scale model I have. I flew on the real aircraft, the model was cheap in the sales, what can I say?

Gort, the robot policeman from "The Day the Earth Stood Still". 5" tall, and he looks cool next to my "Lost in Space" Jupiter 2, Robot and Robbie the Robot from "Forbidden Planet". All embarrassing for guests to see them, but I like them.

I once purchased cat food and condoms at the same time... needless to say I got some weird looks from the cashier.

..... It wasn't a purchase, but I got a BORG from Gospodin and that damned BORG is standing on the shelf glaring at me even as I type (with a blistered left hand!).

Since this thread is going in this direction; I did make a purchase at a local super market last year for KY gel and cucumbers. I was seeing a woman who was a vegan, she does not like meat.
The female cashier turned red, then smiled as if she knew what the purchase was for.

I wasn't whining, just saying that I'll know to avoid them in future.
Believe me, when I whine, you'll know ALL about it!
.... pass ..... me ..... the ..... Rantarette patches ..... will you??

Agreed, models are difficult to make and quality control can only go so far et al, but I have many models I'm quite happy about, including one I got today of a 1:144 Corgi, Viscount 800 in Northeast (UK) colours.

Lovely!

It's just a small proportion that aren't.
